Looks like they don't think it's important. I do!

Xbox chief Peter Moore says "nobody is concerned anymore about backward compatibility."

When the Xbox 360 was announced, one of the hot topics on gamers' minds was backward compatibility. People wanted to make sure they could play Halo 2 on the new machine, as well as anything else that may be in their Xbox libraries.
The 360 came out of the box with more than 200 games on its BC list, but has since seen few updates to the list. As Microsoft pushes forward into the next generation, does that mean additions to the Xbox BC list are going the way of the dodo?
According to a Kikizo interview with Microsoft VP Peter Moore, that could very well be the case. "Nobody is concerned anymore about backward compatibility," Moore said. "We under promised and over delivered on backward compatibility. Yeah, there are a few games...It's a very complicated thing. Developing software emulation for this thing is very complex work."
While phasing out BC with future Xbox games was almost certainly going to happen sometime, Moore's comments seem to imply that it's happening sooner than most thought.
"More are coming...but at some point you just go 'there's enough,' or 'let's move on'...people aren't as worried about a game being backward compatible," he said. "I like to think we upheld our end of the bargain [with backward compatibility]." |

I don't see how it's a bargain by any means. If they told the consumers they were going to make the system with a list of backward compatible games, and that drove the consumer to buy the product, then it isn't a deal between two parties, as much as it seems to be a responsibility of the producers to hold to what they said when people bought the systems. |

Meh, I don't really mind cause the only Xbox game I own and am Willing to play is "Riddick."
For people like me who actually gave away an X-box and like 10 games BC on the system is something I don't care about.
Now if the Wii or PS3 aren't BC...I might get fiesty. |

Nobody is concerned anymore about the XBox 360.
The XB360 is the only (Next Gen) game in town and they can't sell a system or even generate a buzz. What happens when the Wii and PS3 drop later?
Sony is looking at a ton of bad press (which, admittedly, doesn't mean anything concrete yet), and the usual "unstable 1st run" of hardware.
Nintendo must be so loving the current state of Sony and Microsoft |

They do until they decide to launch 14 Pokemon games in a row after all the launch titles.
And then using the remote control dealy decide to release their newest game, "Do it yourself Colonoscopy"
Nothing is set in stone and with Wal-Mart and Best Buy flirting with the idea of selling used games game creators are feeling the pinch of reduced income for released titles.
The future of gaming won't be decided by hardware, it will be decided by which company can pump out the most games the cheapest and still attract business. |

UPDATE:

Marketing team blog starts up damage control efforts after company VP casts doubt on future of program.

Earlier this week, many Xbox 360 owners were concerned to hear Peter Moore downplaying the company's commitment to making the system backwardly compatible with more original Xbox titles.
"Nobody is concerned anymore about backward compatibility," Moore said in a Kikizo interview, adding, "More are coming...but at some point you just go 'there's enough,' or 'let's move on.'"
Now a posting on the blog of Microsoft Games' global marketing team is putting a happier face on Moore's comments and giving an update on the backward-compatibility team's progress. According to the post from team member John Porcaro, the team is testing another update for release in the next few weeks, and "it looks like they're hoping to add at least a dozen titles."
"But rest assured, we're not done yet," Porcaro continues. "We know for a fact that there are lots [emphasis theirs] of people who continue to care about backwards compatibility, including the 'Emulation Ninjas' who are working full time on the updates. And those of us posting on this blog. And, of course, many of you." |

I dont think ill get a 360, ill just play it at someone elses house. I am realy not liking any of the news the circlebox is generating, and im personly gonna get a Wii. plus, i dont want to help my friend win a bet, he dosent belive that nintendo will come out on top in the next gen war, so if the Wii moves more units than either PS3 or the circlebox he gets me one, if both sell more, i get him one. but, i have faith in nintendo |
