Well, based on what Ming said, I ordered some cards for Hecatomb.
Hecatomb is the Wizards card game that uses plastic Pentagon shaped cards and is... well pretty dark! It involves created "abominations" by stacking creatures on eachother, and stealing souls. As I said... dark.
Mainly b/c I found a deal that was ... pretty darn good
Hecatomb has 3 sets that has been released. I and II both have 144 cards. III has 72 cards.
I found a buy it now auction on ebay for 1 of each box for $50... SHIPPED.
18 available!
So now I'm in. I guess I'll be checking this one out. And if all else fails, I don't feel I lost too much. I could probably unload them on Ming. Since he has given me MTG cards over the months that I've been playing.
So, if you guys are interested... this is a pretty good deal
Each box has 24 boosters, each booster has 13 cards (1 rare, 3 uncommon, 9 common).
So, I figured, why the heck not.
Thought I would mention. |

I'm flattered that you blindly bought into this because I said it was cool.
But in all honesty, it IS a cool game. And while it really sucked that it never caught on, it's nice that it can be had for a very good price. And it's good that the card pool is small enough that it should be easy to assemble a set. |

Well $50 for 1 of each box... SHIPPED! How could I pass it up.
Hell, if I like it, I'll probably get another set of boxes... eventually.
Figure I can give all my dup commons and uncommons someone... Girk or Una since they are both a little bit intrigued by it.
It's also easier since a working set in this game is 3 instead of 4!
And since blanket of lies is only 72 cards, I'll definitely get a working set of commons, and it's possible I'll get a working set of uncommons. |

Yeah, I was thinking of doing the same thing myself. I figure why not try to assemble an entire play set (3 of each card) since there aren't many cards out there and they can be had for very cheap.
Now if only I could find a deal like this on Doomtown cards... |

Josh and I played our first game yesterday.
I think we both found adjustments we need to make. I couldn't get my deck down to less than 46 cards. But now I have at least one I think I'm going to remove... maybe.
It's interesting to say the least.
I can see where some of the strategy comes in. It's hard to choose what cards to play as mana cards.
Also, if you guys are interested... I just joined Endbringers.com.
The have a forum and it seems like there are some knowledgable people there. |

Well, it sounds like you're already getting the fundamentals of the game. From what I played of it, I was experiencing the same problem in that I had no idea what I should be using as mana cards because I just couldn't bear to part with the cards in my hand. But I suppose that ultimately comes down to the fact that I'm (and you guys) are so used to playing Magic at this point in time that the different way of playing and the different resource system seems awkward and strange. But it's something that you'll pick up more and feel more comfortable with as you play more. |
