Yea...they play it on ESPN, and i've been playing/watching it more and more now. Anyone else play it, or have any memorable experiences that came from it? |

it's not a sport...it's a fun past-time. I first played it when we all pitched in a buck and see who could win. I just figured id post this in the sports section because i've been seeing it more and more on TV, and i find that funny.
From there, comradre has come from it. Me and a bunch of my friends from school play every thursday night witha 10 dollar buy-in. Kindof fun, and hey, if i win, i bring home some extra cash for the rest of the week. If not, im down 10 bucks...that's about it. |

Poker is fun, but I won't play for money.
Though I have to say Poker skills are very helpful in real life outside the game. The skill of Deduction is a key one I think alot of people could use  |

the thing i've found about playing poker for money is that you take a lot more out of it. Even if it's for something small, like a quarter: It gives a lot more when playing for something on the line, either small of large. |

I love poker so much, I play it whenever I can.....

I agree with what Tobs says. If you're not playing with something on the line (I somehow don't think Skittles really count...), it's just not the same game. You just can't evoke the same emotion if you're not likely to lose something in the process. |

hahaha... the skittles idea is pretty good! 
I gotta go with the pennies idea though. Everyone has a jar of pennies in their house.
That way you actually feel like you're winning something... even though it's just pennies. |

That's the thing that most people don't realize about poker...pennies are a monetary currency that you play to win, and even if you lose, no hard feelings...but you're trying to win something from it.
As for the Poker tournies...those things are expensive...WSOP people pay like, 1500 bucks for a go at it. |
