Annoying managers is fun!

The other day I pissed off one of the managers, who used to be a regular employee until just before I started working there. Which really may not be too uncommon, but this one bears particular mention because it is amusing.

See, there is a poster advertising a General Manager position available within the company, and I mentioned I was thinking of applying for fun. The manager said I don't meet the prerequisites for it, and I said there was only one that I didn't meet, and it didn't seem that bad.

Now, the one prerequisite I didn't meet was experience as a middling manager, forget the exact title, but the same thing as a supervisor, which is her position, within the company. She got horribly offended that I didn't seem to hold lots of respect for the difficulties of her position, and the fact that I said straight up I was sure I could do it and that it didn't seem that hard.

Part of the problem I think is, as I learned the other day, I am older than both of my supervisors, and by being nearly finished with college, have significantly more education than them. I also have more work experience in general than they do, just not at this company. Not that I don't think they deserve their positions, but I am sure I could do their job.

LOL!! Thats great that you have the trump on your managers. I really hope you get the job, that would be the nail in the coffin.

I work at UPS and dealing with our managers is a constant battle. On one side theyre telling me what impossible numbers they want me to do, on my side Im telling them what is even feasbile with assistance and a few minutes to work on one thing at once. The resulting comackle just usually dissolved into both parties being frustrated and/or nothing getting accomplished effectivly.

Back on topic, Im union, so I get to talk smack to my supervisor all morning and he really can to do much about it as long as Im doing my job. Yay union!
