So, I'm at work the other night. As soon as i get into work, and i start to get into the grooves of things, an old friend that used to work with us came in.

This is...for lack of a better word...why i like my job. The people i work with are amazing people who i love dearly.

Now, at the moment im asking how she is, and the like, a woman places her drink and states that there's a lot of foam in her drink, and if i could fix it.
Sure thing lady.
I pour some milk into the drink and give it to her. She comes back about 5 seconds later and demands me to remake the drink, since it was made with soy milk, and i added regular milk. So i remake the drink.
Take note now...i gave her regular espresso. This was around 6:30.

So today i go into work to get myself something to drink and the guy who was working with me comes up to me and asks to talk to me outside. Now comes the gushy stuff.

The same woman came in the day after i "repaired" her drink. She was demanding to find me, adn then speak to a manager due to my inability to serve her properly, as well as for talking to girls, as well as keeping her up at 1:30 in the morning.

Now, i'll agree, I made a mistake: I should have asked the woman what she had gotten before i tweaked her drink. But several things about this that strike me as hilarious:

A: She should have gone to my friend who made the drink first, since he knew her drink. He was standing right next to me at the time, and she neglected to ask him to remake the drink.

B: If you had me a drink and tell me that you didn't get enough foam, please specify what kind of milk. It's greatly appreciated, and it 100 percent guarntees that i'll make your drink correctly.

C: Please tell me that your drink is decaf before you give it to me. I can't tell you the amount of times someone asks for a drink, i make it, and they say they wanted decaf. Its helpful to inform your barista about these things.

D: Before you pin the blame on me talking to "girls", acknowledge the fact that the woman i was speaking to is well over my age (I'm 20...the woman i was talking to is middle-aged)

E: If you are up at 1:30 in the morning becuase you can't handle regular espresso, then you shouldn't be allowed to drink decaf. Why? Because i said so.

F: She was offered a free drink since the managers were busy at the moment. She took it and stormed off. Like most westporters, as well as most loaded rich bastards, give them something for free, and they'll storm off with their pride.

As far as I take this: I don't worry about it. I've been complimented on my skill as a barista and as a salesman at that store. If someone has a problem with me, and wants to start something about it, they're about to walk into a brick wall: Not only did I, until recently, practically manage the place, but I've not had an upset customer in the 3 years i've worked there.

Well, there's a first time for everything. Hope i see her again soon!

To premise, I recently experienced my first 'full cup of coffee'. I don't drink much caffeine at all, and I hate actual coffee, but the pills I took had, I found out afterwards, the equivalent amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee would.

Because of this, I know how crazy it makes you if you haven't had much caffeinated coffee before. Maybe that was her problem. I know I was -incredibly- irritable with everything and everyone for the first couple of hours afterwards.

If that's not the case...

Well... People who drink coffee and are that picky are probably the kind of insane coffee junkies that get irratible over everything because they haven't had their caffeine yet....so she was probably just nutters, either way.

I know you weren't concerned, but that is my prognosis anyhow, which totally backs you up on the idea that she's not worth worrying about. xD

Hehe I get people like that all the time at work, they are fun.

But on the same note I do have a small handful that's continiously growing larger who ask for me to specificially make their hot sandwhiches.

What?! You don't have that special barista ESP? The horror!!! hehe

That's her own fault for not having the sense to check first...oh wait, that would be common sense! Otherwise it would have dawned on her that if you didn't know about the soy milk, you naturally wouldn't know about the decaf part either. Duh!

This was a good read before bedtime though...I'll have Starbucks dreams lol

There are people out there that go to great great lengths to make a reason to moan! Trust me, I know at least one of them.

Chixie's mum fits into this bracket, and she wont mind me saying this at all, when we used to go for a meal with her she always ordered a steak and asked for it well done, it'd come, well done in the manner that all restaurents do it, she'd send it back as it wasn't done well enough, simple, ask for it very well done.

Or better yet, if you're such an expert (as she claims to have qualifications as a chef but no paperwork to back it up) get in the bleeding kitchen yourself and do it and show them how you want it Wink

Ook. Goodness, Tobs, that was a fun story. You can't really say that one's your fault, though, considering how much you didn't know about what this person really wanted.

Tobs knows my position on the whole thing because he told me right after it happened. But seriously...if one shot of espresso kept her up until 1:30 in the morning, she seriously should reconsider her beverage options, and she seriously needs to learn how to be specific with what she's rudely DEMANDING. I will admit that if you drink decaf all the time and then drink regular you will be affected...but seriously...caffeine doesn't affect you for THAT long.

So yeah, welcome to Exaggerationville... Population: YOU

Next time you should put butter in her drink.

...that's not entirely true, Ming. It depends on the person. I can tell you I took that pill around 8:00 at night and it was probably around 1:30 or later before I could get to sleep...and that's not even expresso, just a regular cup of coffee. XD

Still doesn't give her the right to complain, though.

You're right, it does depend on the person. However, did you know that espresso actually has less caffeine than regular coffee? So, if you took your pill at 8:00 and couldn't sleep until 1:30 (for example) off of the equivalent of regular coffee, and considering that you've never had a full cup of coffee before, then her having espresso at 6:30 should not lead to her not being able to sleep until 1:30.

Say what you want, that woman was grossly exaggerating the situation because she's a Westport woman, and they have nothing better to do than to complain about trivial concerns like not being able to sleep until 1:30.

And what if she couldn't sleep until 1:30? I guess that her busy day of gossiping and meeting with her friends at the gym and watching "The View" was grossly disrupted.

You really have to pardon my sarcasm. It's nothing against you, but I know exactly the kind of person that he's talking about and I can tell you first hand that they don't deserve ANY shred of sympathy from Tobs, you, me, or anyone else. They're nothing more than drains on society that contribute absolutely nothing except for undue grief to the good people that have to be nice while they rudely demand everything because they think they're better than you.

Maybe if you're really lucky, she'll come back and act stupid when some of your regulars are there, and one of them will tell her off so you don't get into trouble. Razz
