Well, my Warlock is only level 12 right now, but he's starting to get good, even though I still only have one action bar. And I'm starting to get better at using him and casting my curses. Voidwalkers are AMAZING...at least right now. Mine (his name is Helnar) has single-handedly saved my butt numerous times. And, at this stage in the game, can take on like 3 enemies by himself, while I sit in the back and spam with Shadow Bolt. Good times, good times. |

As Silvanus has put it so, what's awesome about the higher levels of warlocks is they get very swiss army knife-ish. Voidwalkers are still amazing even at the higher levels It's really awesome though when you can have the perfect solution for every situation, Warlocks and Hunters both share that element of a heavy tool set. That's a good thing because you can be prepared for whatever crosses your path, and they are surprisingly adaptable. In the right hands they can be all sorts of powerful. |

I gots my rogue up to 42 now.. I'm working with Leatherworking now, so that side is appealing to me. Our guild-leader (co-founder) of the guild is a power-leveler, he doesn't really care for the story so much as the stats, etc. So he basically leaves the guild events up to me. Unfortunately, the others who are at my level or higher feel the same way he does, (I call them Statwhores, because that's all they care about) Anyway, I can't wait to check out some of the new content

Voidwalkers are always the best summon as far as being a "Hulk-Smash" except maybe the new one for BC. I haven't gotten mine yet so I can't tell you from experience. Voidwalkers have a nice ability later on that is called Torment and makes the enemies attack the Voidwalker instead of you, I think this ability makes Phangron (my VW) hate me. Another really nice toy is soulstone resurrection which kinda downsizes the need for priests in your party. Recently as a level 42 I managed to kill a level 43 with half my health and my VW in tact by using healthstones, fear, and a trinket to slow the enemy's attacks by a mere 5%.
There are downsides, however, like the lack of armor and the fact that if your summon dies, you're basically screwed in most cases. Overall, warlocks are a versitile class like Ultrawolf said, but they take a certain type of patience if you solo and you have to learn how much you can handle. Often times at low levels people tend to run like they would with a mage when they don't have to. Use the health drain ability and as long as you have Shadowbolt... you should be okay to very low health.... provided you still have your summon, lol.
As a side note... DOT's are your best friend.. use them first and well! Choose carefully! |

Yeah, I've pretty much gotten a good idea so far of what I can and can't handle, and I know how to back away if neccesary. I found that Fear is really useful for this.
Generally, my procedure for fighting anything that poses some sort of problem is to send my Voidwalker in to attack it while I stay within spell casting range. I then hit whatever it is with Curse of Agony, followed by Corruption, followed by Immolate. Then I sit back from a safe distance and fling Shadow Bolts, while the Voidwalker beats down on it, until it's dead. If I see that I'm getting into any sort of trouble, I use Fear to get myself out of it. Like if I'm getting attacked by enemies that I can't handle in multiples. Actually, I'm getting a little wary of using Immolate. I notice that often times it draws attention off of my Voidwalker and onto me, which I don't like so much. Particularly when the enemy has 3 levels on me.
I'm finding that this strategy is working pretty well for me, however, and actually allows me to take on things that are stronger than me. For example, I single-handedly (well, with the help of my Voidwalker) took down a level 18 Dust Devil while I was only level 12. Right now I'm in Westfall, and I typically take on things that are stronger than I am. I found that if I take enemies on one at a time, I don't usually have trouble killing them. |

Lack of armor isnt really that big a deal, as one of warlocks most important stats is Stamina. Stock up on stamina gear. most locks my lvl have about 8000+ health, and can actually tank most things pretty well...for high lvl elite stuff, of course they need a healer with them, but even when soloing, you can either tear stuff up fast enough or keep it off you enough to tear it up with fears and whatnot. I have the most fun on my warlock out of every class i have played and tried. |

What weapon do Warlocks usually use? I know that they start with skills daggers and wands, and can train to use swords and staffs. I would think that they would want to use wands for the range, but I noticed a lot of the higher level Warlocks that I see running around Stormwind city are carrying staffs. |

You can carry a staff AND a wand...Mainly I use the staff for its bonuses then just use my wand for damage..I hate warlocks myself and am usually a Mage so I just freeze em in place and bombard them. |
