This was inspired by the Elderly Drivers thread where I realized that I spend a lot of time in my car and have a lot to say about the topic of driving and such related topics.

This is meant to be light but I assumed it would still classify as a soapbox topic.

Topic of the day:

J-walkers! (those who choose to cross the street at any random spot of the road)

I see SO many ppl doing this lately and what's funny, is that they'll even do it right in front of a cop...but nothing happens to them. You can't help but wonder how much money could be made if the police would crack down on this and hand out tickets for this. So many ppl do it, they'd make a fortune!

I was sitting at a traffic light last week where they only have crosswalks on 3 of the 4 corners. Instead of following the "rules" and using the 3 to get to where she was going, some woman just cut across the one side that didn't have a crosswalk...and she nearly got hit too.

I have to really watch out if I'm driving home at night. They come out of nowhere, just like deer, and dart across the road. I almost hit one once who was dressed in black (really smart man).

the ones that cross franklin rd around here are making me wish for a permit allowing me to run over them... some miight call it racist but i think it is immigration control or intelegence control ie dumb ones bite it hard. Twisted Evil

almost got several when i used to live over there. was such a damn hazzard

Ive been known to cut across the road in a residential area, but in a downtown setting I hit the corner cross walks 10/10 times.

What bothers me considerably more are groups of people that congregate in the middle of the road and think they dont have to move when traffic comes through. Then taunt you because they know you cant hit them with out legal reprecussion. I wish there was dumb ass reprecussion.

Yeah, I had to stop in the middle of the road once while 2 younger women were j-walking and just kind of strolling along. What made it so bad is that one of them had a little girl with them that had no business walking...she was what was slowing them down and REALLY needed to be carried....She was little...under 3 prolly.

And through the whole thing, they never even looked at me...just assumed that I'd stop.

I can admit that I've had the occasional near miss...but the question is, was it by accident? Devil

It would be just my luck that they would start cracking down on j-walkers the moment I would choose to do it... Lately it's been looking more and more like I'm going to have to walk to places after I move... Sad

After lab today, I plan on fixing/replacing everything that's worn down on Nora (the car). Hopefully I'll do that before she becomes a Moonite and explodes or something. Wink

While I'm at it, I might finally get around to building that Traffic Mitigation System... Twisted Evil

Man, if jaywalking bothers you in Atlanta, you should go to New York city. People walk where they want, when they want.
