I have their first album, and while I concede that MCR IS emo rock, I gotta say I find the song The Black Parade annoying. Yeah it gets overplayed on the radio, but that's not what annoyed me about it. The beginning was very building, like it was going to be remnicent of Queen, and then it jumps into this poppy tune that to me sounded like a dark version of Aqua. That might have been what they were going for, and they certainly did that on the old album, but the buildup wasn't there. It's like taking the wrapper off of a blow pop only to find a dumdum. I was left feeling shafted, like they started it out to be a power ballad then stole a melody from Good Charlotte. I hope the rest of the album is much better, as I was hoping for something either darker, or along the same lines as the first album.

My Chemical Romance adamantly claims that they are NOT Emo, even though they get labeled that way. Then again, with the stigma that Emo carries, I wouldn't be surprised if bands deny that that's what they are to avoid that.

As far as the buildup goes, I actually like it. But then again, I actually LIKE the song, depite no one else really liking it. Regarding Queen, I believe that they're actually one of the influences behind MCR. But MCR is MCR, and NOT Queen. You have to remind yourself of that when you listen.

As far as the album is concerned, it's pretty different from their last album. It doesn't seem as dark, and it's not as hard. But I think the progression into this new style sounded good, and seems to be the norm these days for this type of band. I mean, if you want a textbook example, look at AFI.

I enjoyed the build up too, up until it turned into a poppy GC tune, lol. I only made the Queen comparison because it was the first band off the top of my head that wrote great songs that used that kind of build up technique. The difference is they follow through. I'll agree to disagree with you on this one, Ming Wink

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just saying that I like the band and I like the album.
