They aren't in fact when my sister and a few of my friends got pregnant they weren't like that at all. Yeah maybe a little moody but nothing like what you describe. |

Women get emotional in general...and it sucks because half the time we cant really control it. Her hormones are probably all out of whack. She may be feeling down on herself, and her self image, if she has put on a visible amount of weight. She may be depressed because she knows how hard it may be to get that weight back off, and she doesnt want to feel unattractive, not just to herself, but to her hubby/bf/etc. She may be in physical pain, so while exercising and stuff while pregnant is supposed to help, I'm sure it gets exhausting a lot of the time to even bother. Simple things that she used to do easily, arent so easy anymore...like tieing her shoes, putting on socks, getting undressed, showering, etc. I would guess with all the changes going on, its just very hard for some women to cope...and she probably just needs some support right now. A gentle back rub sometimes, or foot rub, or I think even belly rubs are nice this late in the pregnancy? (Ive never been pregnant, just going off the little bit Ive heard, and guessing on the rest on how I would feel in her shoes). |

I know that in the first part of pregnancy emotions are sometimes very uncontrollable. If she is that depressed in the last part of pregnancy she may just be scared to death especially if this is her first baby. The closer she gets the worse it may get. I was 19 when I had my first but I also had a lot of support. I did fairly well through my first until I got to the hospital in labor and I just lost it. I was terrified! She may just be very overwhelmed. Will she be with you after the baby? If so, she may come down with postpartum, so please watch her. I had it REALLY bad after my twins but that was because my husband was in Iraq. I wish you and your sister the best of luck and congrats, my friend has two adorable phillipino girls! I might steal one if I don't have a girl this time. |

I've been around so many that I think its just a random thing across the board. Some ppl are very active to where you have to force them to tone it down while others dramatically slow down. I think its all in how the individual mother adapts to it.
You might want to try talking with her about it just to make sure everything is ok. If she's scared or iin uncomfortable, it might make things better for her to talk about it.
I can only hope that my friend will do this sort of thing once she's pregnant again...they're trying for #3 when they have a 12 mo and a 26 mo already. She's just one who can't just sit there and chill when the doc puts her on bedrest. |
