The article pretty much says it all, but the gist is that the great-nephew of Harry Houdini has reason to believe that his great uncle was actually poisoned, resulting in his death, rather than the story commonly believed, that he died of a ruptured appendix.
Aside from gaining closure to an, admittedly, mysterious and strange case, I'm not sure what he's trying to actually gain from going through all this. I will admit, however, it is kind of intriguing.
Now if only they could resurrect Houdini...THAT would be cool... |

I'm sort of giggling at the mention of the "Spiritualist underworld", as if there are lots of documented cases of arsenic poisoning by Spiritualists against their critics. Maybe they're confusing the Spiritualist movement with the Stregheria arsenic murders? |

It's possible. Although, if poisoned, considering how long Mr. Houdini has been dead, would the poison have run its course and have left the body by now? |

Apparently, acute arsenic poisoning can be diagnose hundreds of years after death; part of it apparently has to do with arsenic's slowing of the decay process - corpses from acute arsenic poisoning seem to in fact be mummified, due to the water loss associated with the symptoms of poisoning. |
