yeah, i was similar to graillik.
THey had to chisle mine out of my jaw and mine were starting to get impacted. As long as they dont have t take a chisel to ya, you should be fine ^_^;;

My bottom wisdoms are still trying to break through. But they're at least right there in the open. My uppers are the challenge. One came in pretty well but the other is way up in there at my jaw.

I just want to wait until they all come in before they do anything. I just got really pissed at my old dentist when they were trying to schedule me for taking them out when I was 18. BEFORE they were even showing up. My first one didn't break through until senior year of college

I would be careful with that. My teeth were taken out when I was 18, before they had even started to come out, before I even had pain. Basically when they x-rayed my mouth, they saw that my teeth were not going to come in straight, and while they gave me the option to wait, they highly recommended i get them taken out ahead of time, so that my teeth didnt start getting crooked and other pain issues from them coming out. My teeth were kind of like this:

the end ones being my wisdom teeth in thier position on the x-ray.

be careful about waiting too long, you could cause more damage and make the process worse by waiting if you arent careful.

Mine were completely in, plenty of space for them, but I woke up about half way through to what I think was the sound of them braking my teeth apart to pull them out. I really wish I would have seen the teeth. The uppers were so large they thought they might poke a hole in my sinus taking them out. But everyone is right, don't wait, get them out ASAP.

Yeah...I'm with sciler on this one. Get them out early if your dentists reccomend it. They know what they're doing.

I got mine out when I was 18 before they were even starting to show up because they can tell when they're going to grow in wrong. Plus my mouth was already crowded. I think that's partly the reason I didn't feel ANY pain after I got them removed. In fact...I woke up from the surgery laughing my ass off. It's wierd waking up to yourself laughing but not only that I laughed for about 20 minutes afterwards while nurses kept poking their heads in to see what was up and my mom kept telling me to try and be quiet (she cried when Mty sister got hers out because apparently Rae looked like she was dead after the surgery). I alsp kept wanting to go to school, oddly enough...I think it was because there was a soccer game I was supposed to be keeper for. In fact, for me, getting my teeth out was one of the funnest experiences of my life^.^

Yeah, the pain wasnt too terrible for me, it was more the blood taste in my mouth for the first couple days, but overall I had a decent experience with it, I didnt even swell up too bad.

Zinka- I'm with you on the laughing bit. I was WAY HIGH when i finally woke up lol. I was cracking my mom up, because I was entirely out of it and talking jibberish a bit. Evidently I had some decent dreams, and when I woke up in the recovery area, there was another person passed out on hte other side of the room in a bed and it was making me laugh. I was making fun of them while they were passed out >_> Then when it was time to leave, I couldnt get my legs to cooperate like I would have liked, so that was my first time getting rolled out to my moms car in a wheelchair Surprised

The kicker that got me so upset with them was the fact that they were telling me this WITHOUT an X-ray or even taking any sort of lookat my mouth.

ah, well that's different. I would have asked them to provide legit reasons why to undergo surgery besides "because I say so" lol

Before my 21st, they'll be gone. At least so far, they haven't done anything bad yet. That, and the dentist said that the way they're coming in, the doctor will only have to pop em out, no cutting out of bone or anything.

I am SOOOO Happy to have been blessed with a simple mouth.

First day back to work and I've squirrelled away about 8 percocet to keep me numb for the next few days while I work. Here's to hoping I don't do something crazy to a Captain.
