And majorly overpriced.
More than $2 a song for GH1 tracks.
There's already a petition started with over 500 names to lower the prices.

Forced to buy songs in 500 point packs, not individually.
By Patrick Klepek, 04/11/2007
It has begun. The Guitar Hero series is perfect for the world of microtransactions, and many predicted the first series of downloadables for Guitar Hero 2 would be easily portable tracks from the original game. Just one week after the game's release, RedOctane and Activision have already delivered three "track packs" onto the marketplace -- and it's exactly as people called it.
The three packs are available for 500 Microsoft Points ($6.25, or about $2 per song):
# Track Pack 1 -- Bark at the Moon (Ozzy Osbourne), Hey You (The Exies), Ace of Spades (Motorhead)
# Track Pack 2 -- Killer Queen (Queen), Take it Off (The Donnas), Frankenstein (The Edgar Winter Group)
# Track Pack 3 -- Higher Ground (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Infected (Bad Religon), Stellar (Incubus)
Unfortunately, there is no opportunity to purchase these songs individually, far different from the approach Sony appears to be taking with their upcoming SingStar PS3 game. While official store details have yet to be announced, even yesterday Sony discussed how there were thousands of individual songs available on the game's online store, suggesting users will be allowed to pick and choose how to populate their playlists.
That's not possible for Guitar Hero 2 on Xbox 360, and given that these aren't even brand-new, original tracks for the series, will users be willing to fork over the cash? If you want to see change on the marketplace, however, you need to vote with your dollar. |

While I definitely hate this, I will buy the one with Infected in it...more so it is a good warm up song.
The rest will when (if) they go cheaper. Remember what happened with the Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth maps that were 700 points at first but then given for free during E3 and went to 350 cause no one bought them for 700 (or was I the only one with a 360 at that point)? |

I think I remember them lowering the cost of a number of things at some point, cause I got re-embursed for something. |

$2 is about £1 yes?
I dont think thats overpriced tbh, new songs for GH are effectivly the equivilant of new levels in a game, and I think charging a pound for one isnt that bad. |

Well itunes sells songs by the actual artists for $1 a song.
$2 is over priced for covers of songs that were on a game that was release 2 years ago IMO. |

We get charged 75p (I think) for a song on iTunes, thats $1.50. I see Robbs logic, but I have to agree with Shino, price up EVERY song from th Guitar Hero as potential downloadable content and you might aswell buy the PS2 original, but only if you have a PS2.
I suppose this is only catering for those who didn't get the PS2 versions, and if you're one of them, why you muppet? |

Yeah I never got the PS2 version of GH1. I wonder if the 360 guitar would work for GH1 via usb.
Anyway, the songs do have added tracks for rhythm and bass, but it's still not worth $2 a song for something I can go out and buy for $30! |

Well YOU would have to pay more than that...because you have no PS Geetar. All you Xboxers get the OPTION...meaning you don't HAVE to...of buying UPGRADED ENHANCED tracks from GH1. I do think that the pricing is a bit off but you can't compare buying these tracks to buying songs from iTunes or Napster or other MP3 sellers. There you are buying songs that you get to LISTEN to, not PLAY with a plastic geetar and act a fool in front of TVs everywhere.
I think they should've released em seperately and in sets. Charge more for the individual tracks and less for sets, and include more in the sets...say like how they have it set up in the game. Buy the "Fret Burner" set or the "Opening Licks" set. Hell I'd gladly pay 1.50-2.00 for Crossroads and Texas Flood from GH1 with the improved HO/PO system and the ability to play with a buddy instead of against.
As far as them releasing NEW tracks for DL, that might happen later down teh line but not now. It still costs them money to be able to cover the song, bring in the musicians to lay down button tracks for Lead, Bass/Rythm and all that jazz. They're probably releasing the older tracks to even see if its WORTH making new ones, which I don't really understand why they would...they're probably saving most of em for GH3.
Just my 2 cents.
