I just received this a few days ago in an e-mail from one of the "Prefects" in my Harry Potter and the Legion of Night course. xD And I thought I'd pass it on to you guys.
Amazon.com's Harry-est Town in America promotion features which towns in America, on a per capita basis, are pre-ordering the most copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from Amazon.com. The promotion will use the most recent U.S. Census data and include all U.S. towns and cities with a population of more than 5,000 people. Amazon.com will donate a $5,000 Amazon.com gift certificate to a charitable organization of its choice that serves the winning town. The winning town will be announced shortly after the deadline of 11:59 PM PDT on July 15, 2007.
The list of the Top 100 Harry-est Towns in America will be updated on a weekly basis allowing fans to track demand for the latest Harry Potter installment on Amazon.com.
She's hoping we'll all pre-order and give our address as Dahlonega so we can get the monies, though I'll admit I can't given I don't live or have a postal box in Dahlonega.  But I thought it's still a pretty neat idea and I thought I'd go ahead and share. <3
Remember-- the smaller bookstores tend to have the -best- Midnight Release parties. So, give the smaller stores some business and order there. ^_^ |

Hehe, one year Max was working at a bookstore during a release party; he has brown hair and glasses, so everybody thought he was supposed to be Harry Potter. XD!
That's a totally awesome idea (the whole charity thing); unfortunately I am not to that point in the series. |
