Ok, so the top 5 thread got semi-hijacked and I didnt want to anymore than we already did, so I just made this its own topic.
So, since I'm not adopted, I am curious about a lot.
For those of you who are, or plan to, are you ever curious about the biological parents, or do you not care to seek them out or find out infomation about lineage?
Have any of you tried and been successful, or not?
and on a side note, anyone know a good/reliable way to try to track your family history to make a tree? I would really love to do that to mine, but I just dont know where to look. I dont mind doing some work in it, but Im not entirely sure where to start. |

Well, these days adoption agencies will collect information on the biological parents; and in the case of the agency my ex and I went through, have the adopted couple send regular updates to the biological parents and allow letters and stuff sent to the adopted couple. With medical backgrounds being more important these days, you'd be hard pressed to find an agency that didn't keep that kind of stuff on hand.
A friend of mines mom was adopted and eventually found her birth mom. So, I know it's possible if you look hard enough for those that were adopted under the "old way".
As far as tracking your family history goes, you can try ancestry.com. One of my aunts used it to track our family back pretty far. If we wanted to track it further we'd have to go to Ireland and Scotland. |

It's free to ask.
Pricing differs between agencies, from my understanding. We went through a Christian based agency, and they claimed to be cheaper than most others. Being as we weren't spending any money by putting our daughter up for adoption, I didn't bother with making note of how much it was costing the other couple. Sorry. |

I know my grandmother did a lot of Genealogy stuff for her side of the family. To be honest, though, I think it can be incredibly expensive to trace Genealogy if that's what you're interested in, most of the time. I don't know anything about family history, though. |

A branch of my family was supposed to have done a really extensive family tree, complete with sending everyone their own book...but it never happened. I think it got too big to manage.
I'm one of the old school adoptions where I know nothing about my biological parents. I've never been one to question it much either. I'm not the sort who would want to find my biologicals...but I would be interested in a photo. My curiosity only really goes as far as what they looked like and the outward info. I just don't feel right to go out and try to find them physically. They put me up for adoption for whatever reason, it doesn't matter why. Being that my parents got divorced when I was young (8, I think) I would be more interested in my biological father.
General lineage would be interesting to find out. It would be nice to know where my ancestors came from. My mom did tell me that there were no medical conditions listed in my family history. My mom and I are really close and we never realy talked about my adoption. If I wee to go searching, I would want to be very careful for my mom not to know, I wouldn't want to hurt her. |

yeah, thats the kind of stuff I am curious about. Most that I have talked to briefly, overall seem to not really care, because they were raised by good people, so the biological side never really bothered them. |
