or we could keep with my approach and laugh as humanity continues to make the world safe for humanity by exterminating humanity. the news is only depressing if you let yourself be affected by it. if they choose to bomb each other let them. innocents die constantly no matter what the best efforts are. the main prob with the news is they leave out the majority of the relevant details that denote what actually happened or why.

i know i come off as cold and heartless. i am not. i ran out of emotions about all of these things long ago. i want to watch the news more but i cannot take the attempt to make me react one way or another to fit what ever agenda they are pushing at the moment. plus to make sure i do my job well in engineering i have to look to the core of an issue and find the prob before there is a crater or major costs to the company.

For some people that is easier than others. I feel like my emotions are a big part of who I am, and if I lost them, I honestly think I WOULD give up on the world and commit suicide. A morbid thought, yes, but anytime I've tried to not care, it just doesnt work for me. I just feel like...nothing.

I should prolly be more in tune with what's going on in the world than I currently am. I rarely watch the news anymore and hadn't listened to the radio for about a week. I admit that I had not heard about the Va Tech shooting until I read it on PO. -->It was funny to see Dloe twitch at the idea of using PO as a news source.

I'm getting tired of hearing all the stuff going on in Iraq, and the surroundings. The only news i want to hear is when we're done over there which won't be for a long time. I want to bring the troops home as much as anybody, but I also want them there long enough to finish the job so they don't thank us for our efforts with a nuke up our rears...but that could happen at any time anyway.

I've picked up more of Dloe's traits on life and it has helped me in the long run...most of the time. Some news, I'm better off not knowing about. Dloe may sound a bit extreme at times with how he views things but it actually helps to not get overly upset over something.

Please....I'm actually begging now. If you don't have something nice to say about the war, dont' say it. I know you see the pro and anti-war propoganda daily. I know that most media says there was no reason to go into Iraq...but there was. We went into a hostile region without a proper mindset. We went with a plan that Congress was going to pass, not that the generals wanted. The generals wanted a huge massing of force before entering Iraq, congress wouldn't have it so they generals came up with a more 'cost effective' means of fighting. This is why we are bogged down. Add this to no support from home, and that is what they see it as, and the bullshit about non and illegal combatants having rights under the geneva convention, and you have a messed up situation.

But please, I have friends there, I will go there. I will sit in my tent and be mortored and shelled and afraid for my life. But it has to be done. It is not as simple as just Sunni and Shi'ite. It's not a simple as Al'douchebag and Osama needs A'killin. It's not even as simple as 'there were no weapons of mass destruction' which....I'm not going into it.

Just please, please. These men and women have made the choice to fight and die so that another 9/11 will never happen again. And if the radicals win...that is what will happen.

If the militants win, and a non democratic state is put in place, your children will have another 9/11. And their children will have a long and brutal future as the Islamic radicals attempt to remove Western culture from earth.

That is what you have to understand. It's not that they want us out of Iraq, they want us extinct. They believe that there god has declared war on the non-believers and must be removed. They will even go so far as to kill there own people. This isn't a civil war, it is a holy war, with the Shi'ites being put to genocide.

So please, either back us up, or don't say anything. Our moral is low enough.

Thank you.

I very rarely bother with the news these days as its incredibly one sided, meaning you're forging your opinion over the bts that they want you to hear and not the whole story. The problem there is that in order to get the full picture, you have to hear or read every single news article that each country involved presents to their people.

This is why I much prefer stuff like This Hour Has 22 Minutes. XD Shows that do news the funny way rock my boxers.

Hell, we used to have a show called "While Waiting for bin Laden". The premise was a comedy news show, in an effort to find entertaining news among the usual boring blather. Their goal was to stop airing as soon as the next "big news" came, in that case, the finding of bin Laden.

Best part was when they went on the street to ask bogus survey. Such as when they demanded viewer opinion on "Canada's surprise embargo on the country of Euthanasia." XD
