I had a good time with the movie. And the whole "emo" spidey bit I guess is just getting out of hand. I don't see it so much as being emo as Peter being a darker version of himself. Moreover it was Peter trying to sort out everything going on. I guess it's easier if he had just grown a goatee and worn glasses to be the "evil twin" version of himself. Just sucks that he gets compared to emo because a theatrical way to show a more dark and evil Spidey is overruled by a whiney pop phenomena.

About 10 years ago, he would have been accused of being a goth.

So that debate aside, I liked the way it flowed. I REALLY liked that the story spent a lot of time on Peter, MJ and Harry and how their relationships were bouncing off of each other. I think they should have trimmed down the "Big Baddie" list by one and kept it specifically Sandman and the "Goblin". I think tossing Venom in there was a bit much to roll into a movie, hence giving everyone the feeling they got shafted with him not even being referred to as venom.

I guess they felt the need to toss them both (Sandman and Venom) because I don't think they have any intention of making more Spidey flicks - or maybe at least Sam Raimi. So they felt they needed to pack it all in as much as they could. It's the difficulty in making a movie out of comic book characters who have been around for so long.

So many villains, so little time and so little desire to milk the cow to powder.

My only complaint would have been the scene with Venom and Sandman. Sandman wasn't a bad guy, just had bad luck and the "team up against Spidey" portion didn't TOTALLY make sense for Sandman (aside from the desperation to get past him to help his daughter) because he really doesn't want to kill anyone.

Ah well, I was entertained. I loved the story with the 3 main characters and I think Sam Raimi really did an awesome job with the franchise - start to finish. If it IS indeed the finish.

I dunno, I really enjoyed it. Its not my favorite of the 3, I still love the first, but I found it really entertaining. And Doot hit it on the head...about the whole emo would hve been called Goth thing. It didnt bother me. Only thing I really didnt get into was the singing, but I udnerstand its part of her character so I overlooked that. My bf hated how parker was as Venom, but I found it hysterical lol. The strutting and finger-shooty-winking and pelvic thrusting....I couldnt stop giggling. I can see why people may be annoyed with it, but I dunno, I guess it jsut fits my warped sense of humor. ANd I didnt mind the emotional men either, things like that actually suck me into feeling what they "feel". Allows me to imagine myself in thier shoes easier...but then again, I get sucked into movies really easy for stuff like that.

meh im rambling. I enjoyed it =P Wasnt a waste of time nor money to go at least once, and I would buy it when it comes on DVD. Mr. Green

The reason you should pay 7.50-10.00 to see this is simple.

Bruce...friggin...Campbell.

Overall i dug the flick, and I'll pick it up on DVD for the extras.

It wasn't that it was "emo," "goth," or whatever--it was that that wasn't Venom. They could have turned him into a spaghetti-western six-shooter mustached creep, and it wouldn't have made a difference, it wouldn't be Venom. It's not the image, it's the character. Venom turned Parker into an aggressive, egotistical bastard (somewhat of a sociopath) and made him prone to killing. The film's portrayal of Parker and Eddie with the symbiote made them too emotional, without the necessary amount of sociopathic aggression for the character (the symbiote is supposed to be somewhat insane, which is why its own species rejected it). The fact that he was "emo" was kind of funny to me, and disappointing that they paired that image with Venom.

It wasn't a bad movie. Like I said earlier, it was really entertaining. (and yes, Bruce flippin' Campbell XD) I just don't like the choices that they made surrounding Venom. (being as he is my favorite Spiderman villain....)

And yeah, it was kind of weird how Sandman teamed up with Venom...didn't really like that either. Anyway...I probably would have liked this movie a lot more if they had just made it about one villain or another. There was so much going on, it kind of ruined the pacing.

I dunno...i wouldn't necessarily say that Spiderman got into contact with Venom per-say, rather, he was met with a Symbiote, and that symbiote gets the name Venom when paired with Eddie Brock, and Carnage when paired with the psycho in the prison (don't remember what his name is.)

Also, i haven't actually read very much spidey...so i may be wrong about this...i need a professional to righten my boat, if im in fact wrong.

I enjoyed the movie, although I'll admit that it's not my favorite of the 3.

Personally, based on certain things I saw, I thought that this movie took itself the least seriously of the 3. I think making Spiderman "emo" was done on purpose, and partially for some sort of comedic value. I found myself laughing at a lot more things in this movie than the other two. For example, when Spidey swings in at the end and just happens to land in front of an unfurled America flag. It was incredibly cheesy...but I think it was done that way on purpose.

I thougt that "Venom" (Eddie Brock as Venom) was pretty good. My complaints with him were his teeth (they just didn't seem right to me...) and the fact that when in the Venom costume, I wasn't expecting it to SOUND like Topher Grace.

I'm not a Spiderman expert, but it also seems to me that the Venom storyline could have encompassed an entire movie on it's own. I honestly think that they forced him into a movie that he didn't need to be in.

Wink Thanks Dai. Guess with a little sleuthing I could've trimmed down my post.

Don't know if it'd be the same without Toby.

Raimi is still attached per IMDB so we shall see - 2009 slated release.

There's always been rumors of Jake Gyllenhall stepping in for Toby.

Awwww, and I really liked Toby =( I thought he made an awesome Peter Parker. He did a really good job. I'm with Doot, I don't think it would be the same; the guy who steps up for him has some big shoes to fill.

So, wait, if they're making a fourth movie, why did they do what they did with the third? o_e;;
