There is a majority of green people. Now these green people force the blue peoples of another land into servitude. After many years the green people finally figure out that this is wrong and attempt to make the blue people equal. It takes many generations for the two to even START to become equals, and many cultural divides still stand in the way of common curtousy and good dialogue. Now as the blue people have been asking for compensation for many years under the mask of a term we will call "fewer of us" and have been given the ability to fund and makes small interest groups based of off simply being blue peoples. While in return the green peoples have maintained what is perceived as real power, they are not allowed to fund their own private interest groups on the basis that it would be unfair to the blue people. THis goes on for many years till a new peoples, the reds, decide to mass influx into the area of both the blue and green people.

Now...if the red people become what we will call the "most of us" and the green and blue are both put in the "fewer of us" catagory...will the green people then be able to make thier own private interest groups? Or will they still be stifled by the concept of "power" and again not be allowed to do the same as the blue and the reds?

Just a thought.

I am not trying to upset anyone here. I just believe if we're gonna make it equal, we have to make it equal all the way across the board. How we do that? I don't know, but it needs to start, and it needs to start now.

When I read the first sentence I thought green meant conservationists. XD I was about to be like "NUH-UH!" Had to share that amusing moment.

But damned, I'm so tired of race. COLOR. The blues criticize the greens for putting them in unfortunate circumstances because of color but now they're doing the same thing to themselves! You're going to get privileges because you were born to a green mama? Ridiculous! We originally come from the land of the greens anyways, so can't we all count as green? Or are you judging the greens based on SKIN COLOR.

I have full respect for ethnicity, in fact I'm probably one of the more ethnically conscious people I know. Really, you should see my house. I go out of my way to make everyone comfortable, and if that means spending a couple hours of research on strange greeting customs, I will. But if you have lived within the same culture as me for 10 years and have no obvious disability, why are you getting privileges? I understand company scholarships and things, that's all private and such, but seriously.

Some people on here know I am from Spain. Now, Hispanic counts as being from a country the natively speaks Spanish (Brazilians?). When I fill out applications, what will happen when I bubble in Hispanic? What about the French and the Greek? Do they just get lobbed in with the Caucasians though I get the title of Hispanic? Will I get minority privileges? Will I get extra scholarships? Even though I was born in a foreign country, I was raised with more chances than the average American. Is that fair? No. Some will simply say that "life isn't fair." IT SHOULD BE. Sure, it may not be, but I will not stand by and watch groups, even if I'm part of them, get privileges because of their skin color.

And screw political correctness, sorry. Also, if the Whites are called Whites, why aren't I an Olive? Why isn't Asian referred to as yellow? And judging by the tanning-booth obsessed state of some of the younger generation, shouldn't the Whites be called Oranges and not Whites?

The Greens will never be able to hold their own private groups like that of the Reds or the Blues b/c of the fact of how the Greens treated the Blues.

True balance is dependent upon the Blues and their letting go of the stigma they have for the Greens.

"Those who dwell upon the past are doomed to repeat it."
The Blues repeat their past by passing along their ill will towards the Greens instead of learning from the past to build a better future.

From top to bottom I've always hated race coloring, even though it is used to tell people apart I can't help but hate it. The categories, white, black, green, yellow. "WHAT THE HELLS THE DAMN DIFFERENCE?" We are all people in this world, there is no need for such categorizing. When a person says to another "You are Hispanic!" , "you are Asian" It horrible to me, so what if they are they have feelings too, and self respect. To me we're all people. So why go through the trouble of categorized names. We are not that different from each other. We all feel the same things. categorizing by sexuality, with words heard now days "oh he's gay" "oh she's lesbian" or "oh he/she is bisexual" what's the meaning of it all, even if a persons color and or sexuality is different then yours when you are insulting you are truly just insulting yourself. Like I said they have emotions too. regardless of our ethnicity, culture, region, or sexual preference, in the end were all people.

I see no need to go by categories. I hate words that they came up with today like gothic, emo. WHAT THE HELL DOES IT MEAN, A person where's black clothes it makes them gothic? "KORE WA KUDA NAIYO!" - "THAT'S RIDICULOUS!" If a person where's black clothing it does not make them gothic, it simply means they like to wear black clothing.

As for emo, if a person is to dramatic, it makes them emo, if they try a japanese hair style they are seen as emo. "KUDA NAIYO!" I'm sorry but that's wrong, if a person is dramatic, it simply means their personality is different from yours, if a person chooses an Asian hair style it simply means they prefer that hair style.

QUIT MAKING DAMN FOOLS OF YOURSELVES." YOUR CATEGORIES MAKE NO DAMN SENSE!"

"Would you like be be labled simply by the fact that you enjoy different things? Or you came from a different region, or your culture is different?"

I think not, wouldn't it be rather uncomfortable for you?

People are people no matter what race sexuality, region, or likings they have. they are still people.

Respect them and treat them as you would want to be treated.

ER. UM. Kei, I hate to tell you this, but -everyone- is labeled somehow, whether they are given the label of emo or gothic or not. Take Sociology and you'll understand.

This is something that won't go away. People will always be judged by one another based on appearances. Why? Because it's a quick and easy way to assess another human being, so you don't have to take the time to get to know them, find out you don't get along with them, and have wasted effort.

It will always happen. Whether we're aware of it or not, we judge people. I'll admit openly that I do. I'm much more likely to speak with someone who looks the way I'd imagine a geek to look than one who looks like they're popular. Why? Because I have a stereotypical image of how 'popular' type people behave, and I don't tend to get along with people who behave that way.

Whether you're 'racist' or not, race is factored into this. There are stereotypes. And you know what? There's a reason these stereotypes exist. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule, and a lot of stereotypes get blown out of proportion, but most of them are based at least a little bit in reality. Whether this is because of natural disposition or because of societal demands (which I lean more towards) they still exist. They will always exist.

The only issue we can really address that might change is the political implications of these personal stereotypes, and whether there -ought- to be political implications at all...and...er...political discussions aren't allowed here on the boards.

The problem with labels, to address what Kei posted, is that they are not always bad. Like Legend said, they are often times an easy and convenient way to identify someone, and in that context, they're not really wrong. The other problem with labels is that often times people identify themselves by their labels. You may not think it's appropriate for a goth kid to be labelled as "goth", but he may label HIMSELF that way. And if someone belongs to a certain ethnic group, what's wrong with recognizing that that person is a member of that group? Someone from Japan with Japanese heritage is Asian...there's no denying that and there's nothing wrong with saying so.

My heritages are Cuban and Italian. If you want to refer to me as either, that's fine because THAT'S what I am. I'm not offended by someone saying that I'm Cuban or that I'm Italian.

the greens are fucked unless the influx of reds is controlled till a proper idea of equality is developed and implemented. other wise they have given up any chance for them to exist as anything but a bogey man oppressor in the minds of the blues, misinformed younger greens, reds, and any other color group that could arise. now i have to ask this: what do you do if the tans try to manipulate the attempt to make of the greens to overthrow them?

...That was one of my points, yes. I'm quite familiar with the Brazilians (some very good movies by them).

I fully support heritage, in fact a couple of my friends simply call me the Spaniard. But I am -not- from Latin America. I can hardly understand their Spanish and have a very different culture. Lets suppose it's like comparing Americans and British. Would you just catagorize them as English-speaking? The Mexicans speak Mexican, the Cubans speak Cuban, and the Spanish speak Spanish.

And Al, you're not really making sense. I can understand Latin better than I can understand that. ^^;

As for labels...it's possible to change your label. I know someone who's been a prep, a goth, a hippie, and a normal person. They never changed their race though. You can't change your race...but that could be used for both sides of the argument for special privileges.
