They don't want to lose money by allowing us to either get it discounted or have it on a bare-bone account.
What's so sad is that our discount isn't that much anyhow: 30% off the No Commit Price...so they'd still make a nice chunk from us anyway.
Glad I don't want to buy it anyhow....$200+ was a big enough chunck to pay for my KRZR, and I got it from CompUSA going under, cheaper than my discount.
But, the real reason AT&T is being so stingy w/ us on the phone is b/c of how much money they're going to make off all the plans ppl will have to sign up for in order to get all those fancy features to work. The wireless side of AT&T has to make up all that money from the merger...which is just twisted in itself.
Merge #1: Biggest cash deal in history
SBC and Bellsouth (owners of Cingular) bought AT&T Wireless...merged AT&T with Cingular (mass firings) = a bigger Cingular Wireless
Merge #2:
AT&T Buys out SBC AND Bellsouth gaining Cingular Wireless. They change everyone's name to AT&T and put the burden of profit on Wireless for 2007, w/ the loose promise to leave Cingular alone until 2008. = One big company w/ the name AT&T |

500 dollars for a phone... I may as well get a Nokia 770 with a 4 gig memory stick, and 4 years of Vonage, and I MAY get to price of that thing standalone.  |
