My poor widdle laptop finally bit it last week when the modem died.
Since I don't really know anyplace to take a laptop for service w/o getting charged out my arse...and being that I know nothing on how to to self-serve a laptop, I opted for a new one.
My laptop has been hangin in there for so long, its just time to get a new one....its had a lot of issues:
First it was the power supply...being that I dropped it off my lap and it fell a whole 2 feet onto carpet. I think that damaged the internal connector port...I got that replaced via warranty and it semi-solved the problem.
Although it does have WiFi and Bluetooth, its inability to hold a charge now makes it pretty well inopperable. The power issue has just progressivly gotten to where it won't work any longer than to boot.
Then the CD-Rom drive spontaneously stopped working...likely b/c it had a sensitive open button and is just located in a place you hit it.
Finally the Modem went caput.
And to add to it all, it decided to uninstall MS Office all by itself one day and I never found my disk to reinstall it.
SOOO, I took advantage of my tiny employee discount and ordered the next gen of basically the same laptop that just died. Its been a good laptop despite what had happened to it...but now that I know about them, I can be more carefull with the new one so not to have it happen again.
Before this month is up, I should have a fully loaded Compaq Presario V6000TX on my doorstep!---w/ XP Pro, NOT Vista hehe |

I'm not too big on Macs myself 
I got the only HP that's available w/ XP! Methinks enough ppl complained since the laptop I ordered was a new offer. |

Forgot that one of the fans went out on it too...which is partly why it won't stay powered up...it overheats...
I may invest in one of those chill pads for the new one...they offered them when I ordered it but the price wasn't more than maybe $4-5 bucks cheaper...so I can shop around.
I'm at least hoping that if they left the general design alone, I can at least recycle my battery and power cord so I can have a backup for "free". |

I'm not sure...I guess I'll find out when I get it.
Its supposed to be a 15.4" widescreen. I can't remember if my dead laptop was bigger than that.
So, I think mine would be pretty standard for one...your's is too big?! |

Why o Why must FedEx be to retarded?
My laptop arrived a day early (today)
I was home and the garage door was open...and I was awake! (at 9:15)
But I swear the guy never bothered to knock or ring the doorbell. I got a little creeped out at the fact that the delivery dude left my DoorTag on the passenger door handle of my car 
Now, after playing multiple tag on their automated system to talk to a human, I find I have to go to their drop-off facility tonight to come and get it...and its not exactly in the greatest part of town 
Couple this with my flubbed CafePress order today, and you've got one miffed kitty.
...at least UPS had the brains to leave that package at my front door.  |
