I didn't mind most of my wellness class, but what is the point of a class that only mildly encourages exercise in the rest of the course, but has two days in which you're forced to do 12 minute treadmill runs, 1 minute situp and pushup test, and a flexibility exam?

I'm sorry, but my body -hates- me for it right now, and I have a game against Slytherin today. -And- I've at least even been trying to keep in shape. But 12 minutes on a treadmill and 1 minute of pushups is enough to leave me sore for a week (I know, as it did the same at the pre-test earlier in the summer)

I wish I weren't in such bad shape.

I wish people would stop pointing to the fact that I'm skinny every time I say I'm in bad shape. Just because I'm twiggy doesn't mean I'm in shape. I may not look fat, but all that's on my body is fat and not muscle, that's for sure. And being small doesn't mean I'm physically fit at all. You can be fat and well. You can be thin and unwell. I am thin and moderately okay now that I've started eating better.

I'd eat even better if I could, but it's cut short by the fact that I don't shop for myself, can't cook, and don't have time to develop cooking skills as well as, y'know, class schedules interfering with eating time. I'm sorry, but when I leave my house at 4:30 and don't come back until 10:00 I'm not going to be eating a proper dinner. And, even worse, when full semesters start up again and I'm in class from 9:30 AM until 9:00 PM again, full meals just aren't going to happen at all.

I'm making the attempt, but as usual, life gets in the way. Argh!

I need to start working out again. White collar work is starting to make me soggy around the mid-section and lazy.

I found it scary that I can barely do a 3 mile run when I used to run marathons, and I had trouble lifting things that I normally had no trouble lugging around. I'm starting to do jogging and calisthenics again, and once I graduate I'm going to take up Tai Chi again.

Just beat up Shino, beating someone up is a great workout! Devil

Are u stretching out afterwards? back when I first started cycling alot (like 10 miles) I found that I was in agony, until I started stretching out properly afterwards. cuz your only doing gentle exercise u shouldnt need to do so before hand, but it should help after.

You need to stretch before AND after.

And then you'll still get sore. XD

It's just a matter of your muscles getting used to working out.

Unfortunately, by the time I got off the treadmill, I was too dizzy really to do anything but just keep moving (or I might've fallen and that would've been bad) Plus, I wanted to get out of there because I was -starving-. XD

But really, I don't do it often enough that it's a big worry. Except when I'm sore for a long time after. This time, though, it's not quite as bad as before. I can walk and stuff, and the ache -is- going away. I might actually be in good order by Monday.

Sounds like with classes interfering, you're going toward the "healthy snacks throughout the day" school of food. Hopefully you can also find some sort of "exercise" method, even if it is doing a lot of walking around between courses, that will help. That course should let people know about those exams and encourage a bit more in exercise and working out.

This may sound crazy, but it works!! Whenever I'm sore from working out I make sure to at least walk for 30 mins the next day, after that I'm not sore anymore. Try it, it may make u feel better. Mr. Green

I get what you mean...I've been overweight my entire life...but with an exception to my early childhood illness stuff, I've always been perfectly healthy, just not physically fit.

I just really want t o lose some weight, but my endurance is close to nill.

I work out 3 times a week. I would suggest going light on the weights with less reps. Trust me it helps! Don't forget to mix up your exercise routine because if you don't your body will become used to it. If you want REAL pain tho' try gettin waxed. Yea. PAINFUL. I had my back done (I was de-Chewified) and I tried so hard not to scream. God, it was like the Inquisition was goin to town on my back. Thankfully the girl who did it was nice and cute to boot (butnotascuteasmyrita).

Don't forget to increase your Potassium intake (Bananas or Orange Juice). It will help get rid of muscle cramps quicker.
