Hmph, I liked it. I'm not very obsessed with it I guess, as my main book series that I love is the Goodkind series, but since i plowed through the books last year, and finally just finished reading the new one...I thought it was a great series...and while I was sad about a few things, I really dont have anything to knock. I really enjoyed it. |

Fred and George are my faves.
There were some REALLY good points in the book. I liked how it kept you wanting to read more. I did not like the cheese factor of the epilogue. I felt it could have been summed up in MUCH less time with many less offspring.
Harry as a horcrux wasn't surprising but it tore me up how he felt when he found out. That was probably one of the hardest chapters to read. Fred dies, Tonks and Remus, Harry finds out, and the stone bringing his family back tapped the sentimental in me. (bawled my eyes out) Snape bummed me out too, as selfish as his intensions were for protecting Harry, but I felt his anger and resentment so I think she did a well enough job with that.
Other than mere slight confusing reading when Harry is discussing the wand with Voldemort at the end the only other part I was WHAT WHAT!? was how Neville procured the sword of Gryffindor until I reread it this morning (from the hat - ala Harry in the Chamber of Secrets). I totally glossed over that part. |

I miss Fred and George...I'm at the point now where they've just made it out of the Ministry and are living in various woods...I kinda want it to get moving again...this horcrux search is dragging.
Although I think they're heading that way, the Shreiking Shack sounds like a good place to stay...and can give them access back to the school.
I've mentioned that I cheated and read the epilogue...I'm really interested in what Snape does to make Harry revear him so highly that he names his own kid after him...this is the same guy who killed Dumbledore! |

i was all confused about the sword-hat business, until i realized that i hadn't actually read chamber of secrets, i had just watched the movie. i think i started at book 3. regardless, i initially thought Neville had Belatrix's knife. i don't know why.
anyway, moments i particularly liked were;
Ms. Weasely getting angry. that part was pretty awesome for me.
also, i liked Snape's story, and
harry using the stone
(but the epilogue was lame, but someone my livejournal posted this link

I liked it. I agree that the epilogue was horrible. It was kind of like a really bad fanfic. and I agree that those three deaths were unecessary but at the same time, It would be pretty silly if all of the popular characters remained unscathed.
I had no problem with Harry having to die to save everyone...I don't know how much I'd connect that with a jesus thing but rather it seemed to connect appropriatly to what his own mother did for him.
I thought the bit with dumbledore at the end was a bit too...I dunno, it was like-oh, and here's dumbledore to explain everything I didn't manage to explain throughout the book or through other characters...I dunno, I think she should have found a different way to get all that information through.
and as odd and pointless as the hallows might have seemed they were sort of important for Harry-to decide his character and which path he wanted to take and all-I consider it important for his own character developement.
and some stuff was predictable but I still really enjoyed the read.
I particularly loved snapes bit (which was very very small). I think it was appropriate how he felt about lilly-I mean, sure he was a snuck up snob about pure bloods or whatever at first when he was young and what not but previous books had hinted at his feelings for her (I thought). Anyway, as sad as him dying was I thought it was nicely done-not to cheesey or dramatic but harsh and sad, appropriate...
all in all I really liked it^.^
err...

umm, doesn't this Encyclopedia sound a bit like a problem...or can Rowling do whatever she wants since she's the original author?
It would be kinda screwy if Legend's professor beat her to it.
But then again, including character backstories that were not previosly told does have a different twist to it...she'd just have to call her book something else.
As far as book 7 is concerned: I'm in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts...right as they are making their way into the Shrieking Shack.
I'm glad to make it into this part. The middle of the book had a serious lag to itwith how they just kept moving from place to place to camp. It was nice to hear the truth from Aberforth...and I agree that Fred's death was uncalled for...I don't see why she could not have just injured him with how it happened... |

We discussed it in class. Professor Corrigan really thinks (and we agree) that her Encyclopedia is going to be -just- the stuff she left out. Afterall, it's for charity. The other two books she did for charity are tiny (Quidditch through the Ages and Magical Beasts and where to Find Them) and you also have to take into consideration that it's incredibly unlikely she'll want to do all the work we're doing to put together a full encyclopedia, particularly if it -is- for charity and she won't be making any money off of it.
We -did- inform J.K of what we were doing before we started on it, and though she's not making it Official, it's doubtful she's really got a problem with the Encyclopedia. ^^ |

Even if she does have a problem with it, its her own fault for not filing the proper paperwork to keep someone else from doing it.
Just because you're famous doesn't mean you don't have to file the same sort of paperwork that every other author has to.
Your professor shouls however be prepared to produce proof of the original idea though in case of an out of the blue lawsuit. |
