For those who don't know HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cables are used on many high end HDTVs.
Cables vary in price a lot. And sales people at electronic stores will try to get you to buy the most expensive ones. You could be out $100 or more on these cables if you aren't careful.
HDMI is a DIGITAL cable. Which means that signals are sent in binary form. On or off. So it either works or it doesn't. The "quality" of the cable matters little to none!
You can get HDMI cables for < $5 at Monoprice.com.

Got mine on Amazon.com for a whopping... 71 cents. Yep. Under $1. Gold plated connections, too. Just as good as the Monster cables for $100. Monster is the biggest scam company in the digital world. It's true. |

Damn... $.71! That's awesome.
Good deal... I just don't want anyone to get screwed by the stores. They rip you a new one. |

I had read about this on IGN's site but, not having an HDTV, I didn't put too much interest into it. Glad to get some first hand confirmation from people I trust tho. Thanks. |

It's true. With component/composite/s-video cables, I would say don't cheap out. Don't go overboard either, more than $40 for a cable is ridiculous.
But yeah, the official Sony HDMI cable for PS3 is $40-50, right? When I bought my system the guy tried to sell it to me. I walked over to the TV accessories and grabbed a GE HDMI cable with gold plated contacts for $19.99. It looks great. |
