I'll see what I can do to come and hang out at the hotel. The problem is getting away from work; I'm a full-time manager at a bookstore. It's also a 3+hour drive one way. The holiday party might be doable, but again I'd have to deal with work.
I signed up for DC back in November, so the price was really cheap. I've never been to one, and some actors from Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica are gonna be there. <insert squeeage here> |

You thought that was bad Fawkes Fyre, try working on-site registration when the computers crash and a couple thousand people are angry and blamming you....specifically....because that makes a whole lot of sense.
For anyone interested in D*C the best way to do it is to go get your badge on Thursday before the con. On-site is literally dead as a door nail. This is of course if you are deciding to go last minute. Or like Mirai said, buy your ticket early and not only is the price not bad but pre-reg lines on Sat are not that bad. Friday its still bad but only till about noon.
Mirai, you're gonna have a great time. I'm so envious of you as last year was my last year for a while. I know most of the peeps here are AWA folk, but there really is nothing like DC. There is so much to do, and you'll meet so many interesting people. It truly is the ultimate mecha for geeks.
Advice: Do not get trapped in a conversation with Danger Woman. She is a nice lady, but you will be talking to her for a very very long time. |

Thanks for that advice, K-Chan. That's the most valuable piece of information I've heard about D*C, really.
But don't worry, my first love has always been AWA, and I wanna go back, mainly because of everyone here. My last AWA, I got separated on Saturday from everyone I came with, but when I surprised everyone at the PO booth, I felt instantly welcome, and I had a blast because of it. |

You can't buy day-passes for Saturday on Thursday, only friday only and weekend passes I believe; however, if you pre-reg during or immediately after the con the price is usally only ten more dollars than a day pass for the -entire- weekend. Its a good deal, you can pop on by the con after work on friday and pick up your passes and walk around a little that night. Then enjoy the con whenever you get time that weekend whether that be Sat, Sun, Mon or all three! The pre-reg lines are usally almost non-existant after friday morning and afternoon. There is a little rush on Saturday but usually its not bad.
Pre-reg is the way to go, and you get one of the nice big badges that only staff and pregregers get. -purrs-
I'd double check on the Friday badges only on Thursday. That was how we did it last year if I remember right, but policy does change from year to year. All the registration stuff is posted on the DC main page. |
