Lead painted toys
Am I over reacting, or is anyone else tired of this shit?
This is rediculus, China needs to get its act togeather and start enforcing regulations to prevent this sort of shit.
Write letters to your senators, tell them somone needs to stand up to China. |

They actually warned us at my company to be prepared for recalls that very well might occur in the stores that we place our ads.
But I agree, this is getting pretty ridiculous. Someone really needs to step up and put a stop to this. But I don't think that China is really the problem. I think the problem stems from the major toy manufacturers that bring their production over to China because they're too concerned with the bottom line and not concerned enough with quality. |

Exactly. If we paid them more, they might be able to enforce more regulations on the toys. As it is, we make stuff overseas so we can pay them shit and then throw a hissy fit when things go wrong. Write to your senator about paying the Chinese more so they can regulate stuff properly instead of writing about how China's trying to kill us all. |

I thought of a very bad joke about how that conversation went...
Director: Okay we need the 100,000 Powerman 3000 toys to be painted black with red trim.
Chinese Factory Manager: Make 100,000 Powerman 3000 toys with black paint and lead trim.
Director: Yes make them with black paint and red trim.
Three Months Later...
Director: I told you to paint them with black paint and red trim!
Chinese Factory Director: Yes Yes! I paint them with black paint and lead trim.
Director: No! I said Black paint with R-E-D trim.
Chinese Factory Director: oops... |

I have returned to declare this thread epic.
To Legend... Paying China more money won't change their situation. They don't have high safety standards, but it's not for a lack of money. They have a lack of safety standards to maximize their profits and remain competitive. Standards don't raise until the workers act to raise them. |

I'm still not ready to rule out China being up to something. I believe they did have the pet food incident. |

It is remarkably similar to the manufacturing methods and standards around the time period of the Industrial Revolution in the US and Western Europe.
I find it ironic that the same conditions and standards in China are what led to the original Socalist and Communist movements about 175 years ago in Europe. I would find a true communist revolution in China to the very interesting to say the least... |

i just wish the leadership would admit the fact that a commercial guerrilla war has been declared against us by China and deal with it appropriately. Unfortunately one of the aspects of the country's successes in the grand scheme is what opens the door: capitolisitic drive for profit. i do not advocate a change in that but i do suggest that we do what would hurt china most, threaten to move our toy and merchandise production to Africa like they for their cheap production or India like we do with our IT. this is economic war and we have to take it seriously.
1 incident: accidental; 2 incidents: start of pattern but possible error requiring reconsidering observation; 3+ incidents: economic war only the foolish and elected can ignore. |
