For any of you who have never been to Maine, there are really only two major cities, and neither of them is the capital. I have a feeling this is the cause of my largest gripe now that the days are much shorter.
TURN YOUR DAMN HIGHBEAMS OFF!
I understand out in the areas where there is nothign but trees and grass, having the highbeams on makes it easier to see if something is going to jump in front of your car. But driving through "downtown" Augusta is NOT an appropriate place to have them on. I have difficulty driving at night as it is, because even lowbeams make it difficult for me to see. But when I'm going down the road and have to damn near STOP because I can't freakin see, that is not cool.
And to make it even worse, some of the major culprits are the people riding my butt when I'm going the speed limit already. So I end up slowing down because I can't see since their highbeams are in all of my mirrors.
I don't use the highbeams myself unless I am out in the middle of nowhere, and there is NOBODY else around. I'm tired of driving through town and it being low, low, low, high, low, low, high, high, low in oncoming traffic.

While I probably don't have it as bad as you because I don't live in Maine, I live in Connecticut, and I know exactly what you mean. It's particularly frustrating because most places in Fairfield County (where I live) are well-lit.
The WORST however, has got to be very early in the morning. I get up every morning at 5:30 and drive my mom to the train station to go to work. There's nothing worse than being half-asleep as is already and being blinded by some jackass' lights...at 5:30 in the morning. Jackassness shouldn't start until at least 7:00... |

Totally! The worst is when they don't even know they're on and they're behind you! I wear glasses that have no-glare lenses, so it makes it all the more brighter to me. I completely feel your pain on this one. |

I have that anti-glare thing too. And sadly, it's even worse for Link because of issues with his sight. Luckily, he doesn't live near these bunches of gootards who can't work their lights properly.
Instead he lives in Va Beach, and has the people who come up behind him with their highbeams on. Down the Boulevard. An area with enough lights that you can see it from miles away lighting up the sky...

...I have a short car, a miata.
Most people's headlights shine directly into my eyes while driving. Rawrrr.
I sometimes just vent my frustration by blinking my headlights (I have the pop open ones) at people, which is probably not the safest idea, in hindsight.
It is for this reason that I don't like driving at night unless I'm on the interstate or a road with a big divide. ...Or nobody around. |

I'm used to being blinded by someone else's high-beams, either oncoming or behind me. And sitting in a short car, I get it all. helps keep me awake, sure, but some people should just pass me or turn their lights down. Although, with the cars that have halogen headlights, ugh. |

The problem I have is that I drive a regular car, and most of the people around me right now are driving SUVs/trucks because of the roads getting iffy with the onset of winter weather.
(and goodness gracious Blue's Clues has gotten even worse now...) |

The lights...they Burn!
Its those Halogen bulbs like SA said...I refuse to drive in fornt of Dloe at night b/c his regular truck lights are so bright and blinding.
Maybe if police started issueing tickets for highbeam use, it would get better...cuz you're not supposed to use them, except when no-one's around, or in emergency. |

You know what else I hate.
The headlights that shine blue from an angle.
Blue is the most easily seen color in your peripheral vision. It's so freakin distracting! |
