Run them off the road Devil

no seriously ^_^;; i live way out in hickville GA so i feel ya, what helps me is when they are comming on, i look at the white line that borders the right side of the road,
That way you know where the road is and you aren't looking at the oncomming lights

I hate halogen bulbs too...

And I'd watch the white line on the side if all of our roads had them.

Like Jaena said, my vision makes it worse because my prescription is so strong. And depending on the day its sometimes easier just to wear my sunglasses at night Kew Search

Its those Halogen bulbs like SA said...I refuse to drive in fornt of Dloe at night b/c his regular truck lights are so bright and blinding.

Maybe if police started issueing tickets for highbeam use, it would get better...cuz you're not supposed to use them, except when no-one's around, or in emergency.

What's worse are the Xenon bulbs. Those things are so *&%$ing bright it wakes my violence!

I just remembered somethign that happened the other day. I had a car pull in behind me who had on their highbeams AND their fog lights. WTF?!

And on my way home from teh store today, during that time of day when people are just starting to turn their headlights on because it's still light out enough not to, the first car I saw with headlights on had their highbeams on. In a very well lit, very busy area.

i drive a truck w/ factory bulbs so even with my low lights on i shine directly at the back of your head as i drive behind you and i even have on a lower set of lights to cover turns. i am thinking about adding even brighter lights though as well as some behind the grill guard but those new lights are not for road driving. i just wish we could stop using lights on the front of vehicles and go to the next level in technology like IR reactive lens screens and IR bulbs. i can see fine on a road in starlight and headlights just seem overkill.

ehhh....

not sure how well that would work Al...

I can't see that well in low light without haveing about an hour to prep my eyes.

As for people who use highbeams in city limits.... well, i'll just say i wish Darwin's natural selection applied to people sometimes -.-;;

Yes. On a clear night, with nothing overhead. The problem occurs when it's raining, snowing, cloudy, or when you're driving in an area with a lot of tree cover (for example, New England). And that's IF you don't have trouble seeing, and as long as your eyes have been fully adjusted to seeing in the dark, which will go to hell once the first guy with headlights on drives in the opposite direction, or you have to turn your cabin-light on to read something like a map.

Not really sure that idea would fly...

well even with certain conditons making them needed i am still for technology making them the backup/unneccessary for night driving. i like the idea of a cockpit with enhanced vision cams and view screens. a set up like this also would make it possble to have a stronger cabin. this is one of the few times i feel we should move beyond KISS and do something "advanced"

Those lights are there for other purposes as well. If you've ever had wildlife cross in front of your car, even with the lights on, you know it's a scary experience. Now imagine said wildlife just standing in the middle of the road, unaware that you're there, because you have no lights on. Sure, you'll still hopefully stop in time to avoid hitting them, but generally, the wildlife doesn't move toward things with bright lights.
