i dont understand a single word you said rev but it sounded important in some way so ill leave it alone...

but i mean if we really do end up bombing them we have 70 percent smart bombs and 30 percent artillary and troops...so i mean were barely steppin foot on iraq but in a case we are...38,000 of our marines are in iraq as we speak and they have it trapped in. the three main bases of iraq have been taken over by our troops.

i think by pointing out the rediculousness (is that even a word? it is now) of Ain's previous post i just agreed with rev... oh well, we do agree on other things so that isnt a big surprise. i said it on the poll in whatever and ill say it here. war IS hell, but sometimes it must be done. while you may not agree with me i think in this case it will help more than it will hurt if used correctly. while i do not like war as it is a shit business, it is something that will never be gone as long as humans retain human nature...

I have to agree with you there, Righty. War, while no pleasent, has to happen sometimes. It's that whole fighting for what you believe is right thing. Sometimes it's just something you have to do, no matter how much you may not want to. But I think that's the real test of a rightous war: Whether or not you WANT to get into it, even though you know you HAVE to. People who want to get into wars can find any number of reasons to go to war. Those who don't only find the good reasons.

another thing that angers me. the "bush is doing this to get re-elected" thing. umm, do you seriously think this is for a re election? do you seriously think that he is THAT STUPID that he would risk thousands of lives for a re election? if anything he is putting his ass on the line here to fight a war that he thinks is right. while he may not be the greatest person i respect him IMMENSELY for that. how many of you would start a friggen war that you knew was right when ~50% of the country you freaken run is against you? i doubt any one who is against the war would say yes to that last question. you people dont realize that there is so much hatred being channeled at our country and if saddam isnt gonna threaten us SOMEONE will, maybe it is time to show that we wont take that shit from anyone. maybe we should fight back, instead of isolating ourselves and letting kuwait get killed attempting to fight back. i can understand about the whole not making them use our government, but seeing as how i am one of the least religious people here, what happened to the good samaritan?

I'll be one to admit when things sound a little more rational, like this. Maybe we should get Dennis Miller into office? Or to write the president's speeches? At least he breaks it down and doesn't tapdance around the issue. (Although I'm still not one to be all too excited about this war - but I do support our troops, because it is they who have their lives on the line for this country).

"TRYING TO HELP"

All the rhetoric on whether or not we should go to war against Iraq has got
my little brain spinning like a top. I enjoy reading opinions from both sides,
but I've detected a hint of confusion from some of you. Maybe this
can help.

As I was reading the paper recently, I was reminded of the best advice
anyone ever gave me. He told me about the "KISS" method ("Keep It
Simple, Stupid!"). So with this as a theme, I'd like to apply this theory for
those who don't quite get it. My hope is that we can simplify things
and recognize a few important facts.

Here are ten things to consider when voicing an opinion on this
important issue:

(1) Between President Bush and Saddam Hussein ... Hussein is the bad guy.

(2) If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right things, keep
this in mind: the UN has Libya heading the Committee on Human Rights
and Iraq heading the Global Disarmament Committee. Do your own math here.

(3) If you use a Google or Yahoo search and type in "French Military
Victories," don't be surprised if your computer panicks at its inability to
respond to your inquiry.

(4) If your only anti-war slogan is "No War For Oil," hire a pit bull
lawyer and sue your school district for having allowed you to slip
through the cracks and robbing you of the minimum education that any
non-troglodyte deserves.

(5) You can take this one to the bank: Saddam and bin Laden will NOT
seek UN approval before they try to kill us.

(6) Despite common belief among some, Martin Sheen is NOT the President.
He only plays one on TV.

(7) If you are anti-war and even an outright "America Basher," to bin
Laden you are still an "infidel" whom he wants dead.

Be careful: if you believe in a "vast right-wing conspiracy," but
not in the danger that Hussein poses, the only job you may be able to get is as
an Ivy League college professor.

(9) Even multi-culturalists who try to browbeat us into believing that
all cultures are equally deserving of respect have trouble explaining the past
500 years of Islam.

(10) Whether you are for or against military action, our young men and
women overseas are fighting to defend our right to speak out on these
issues. They deserve our unreserved support.

Well see... the only thing about the weapons thing is, every country has the right to be armed in cases of attacks. Telling them they can't have a weapon that we ourselves have is slightly hypocritical.

Yes he may be making threats with them, and in turn is like a bragging kid who needs his toys taken from him... but you see where I'm coming from.

While I agree with you Doot, I'd just like to point out #1 as a defense for #11. Other than that I agree with you. I guess my basic point is that he lied about having them and to me that seems like he was going to do something with them, you know?

Hope, though, the last thing to escape Pandora's Box...(as is fabled, good job Sperrit! ) is the most powerful thing contained in said box. Evil grasps and controls some souls, but many remain pure. Why? No one knows. Maybe it's the ability of reason. But some people are driven so far into pessimism and hate that they do things like Hussein is doing. I do not support this war, I'm just saying. Perhaps it is the fact that he was friends with Micheal Jackson, or didn't get enough hugs as a kid. But whatever it is, it's driven him past the breaking point. Now, hope. Hope is all we have. Hope is all we can survive on. ...If you worship a diety, now is the time to call out to them. Because, it is out of our hands. Even though I'm anti-war, I know that we're at war...And there's nothing I can do to stop it now. (Not that I'll stop trying. ) All I can do is hope...*hope*. That word keeps coming up. Never take a situation for hopeless. Hopeless is just a limitation of your mind. Break past it.
