It's not heartless, it's just f***ing stupid. Seriously, drinking and driving is just dumb.

That story was really sad, though. They were on their way home from the holidays.

Similar story over here actually although the people on the recieving end (so to speak) of the crash weren't injured.

An 18 year old lad, driving home from a New Years Eve party with a group of girls pulled out in front of a "bendy" bus (the ones with the corrugated stuff in the middle that creates a joint) the force was so large the bus jumped back four feet, the bus driver was fine, 2 of the girls went to hospital with injuries whilst the lad and 2 other girls died, all of the girls were under the legal drinking limit (18 in the UK) and he'd only been driving a month, its sheer stupidity it really is.

My Dads been driving since he was 17, he's almost 60 now and if he's driving, he'll have one small glass of something, if that, usually he just has some kind of juice!

Arrgh. Whomever made the universe, next time around, please remove the part of our existence that thinks drinking and doing dangerous things, or even, drinking and doing about anything, is a good idea.

its tragic. This is what happens when people drink and drive. It's why I really don't drink heavily, and if i do, i stay put wherever i am.

The shoes come off and i find myself a nice couch to sleep on, cause I'm not going anywhere AT ALL.

I hope others that survived manage to pull through. And I hope the man that was drinking and driving is prepare to face the guilt of killing 5 people, four of which were children.

Luckily surviving an accident due to a drunk driver I can agree wholeheartedly with everyone's sentiments. I feared I was about to lose my family at the time. We went out to Cali to bring back my mom's ashes when me, my dad and Sakura were hit by a drunk driver.

We thankfully made it through. The driver's passenger did not. It is still quite haunting to think of watching that man takes his last breath. The driver was life flighted out and once recovered and released from the hospital was put in jail. Third drunken driving offense.

Drinking socially is one thing. Drinking responsibly should ALWAYS be a no brainer. Some people who have problems drinking tend to drink til their rational thought is completely obliterated and no matter how much they feel they've "repented" for their actions, most of them would repeat the whole damn process again.

I used to love a good drink, but never ever did anything remotely stupid in a dangerous manner, not in a way that was dangerous to others anyhow.

I think the worst I've personally done was having a drunken BBQ in a cave in this little village I went to with some mates and also taking on an "established" drinker at a tequilla slammer match the very first time I went out drinking (I won, fell asleep, woke up in hospital as my mates had thought I'd passed out, but I was fine, just needed sleep! hoorah!!)

These days, 3 glasses of ale and I'm not wanting to even move. So, even if I could drive, I wouldn't even consider it

I do not condone drinking in any way, not even socially (sorry, just being honest), so if this were to happen to me I would stay alive at least long enough to rip this shithead's heart out with my bare hands.
