I think it might be because Fox is impartial and willing to give everyone with an opinion time to express their opinions.
Problem is that no one with a law degree or seat in Congress is going to come forward to defend video games. Wanna know why? Cause no one cares.
Everyone knows that video games and music have about as much impact on the world as beer and cigarettes hence we have TRUTH ads and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. If Thompson wasn't given time to express his opinions then maybe no one should have the right to express their opinions.
Just because Jack goes against the things you love you all get pissy. Meanwhile the baggara continue to march south in search of water into non-arab countries and are getting slaughtered just trying to survive and you all complain about one man trying to bring down video games.
Soldiers die and are buried to protests of "God hates fags" but don't worry, we're all over this Jack Thompson issue. Watch out, a guy with no ability to muster anyone to his side is going to take down a world-wide multi-billion dollar industry! |

The same way that he can express his distaste for video games, we can express our distaste for his opinions...we just dont have a national outlet to do so.
In all honesty, if I had the money to, I would love to be able to defend video games against the likes of him, and those like him. I get tired of people who immediately jump onto his bandwagon, all because every single one of them is ignorant. He doest know anything about games. His opinions are purely heresay based on what he hears through others just as ignorant as him.
If he wants to point fingers at video games, he should first point his finger at the parents who buy thier young kids violent video games. Parents should pay attention to thier children more...but sadly, most just want the kids out of thier hair so they can do thier own thing. ANd then they wonder where they went wrong. And sometimes, as mentioned, its not even a video game issue, sometime's the people just snap from medication. It was even stated that this IL case, the kid stopped taking his meds and snapped, as of thier current information, so why isnt Mr. Thompson all over the pharmicutical companies who make whatever meds he was taking. Many of them cause you to become suicidal and other irrational "side effects" when you stop taking them cold turkey, without the proper "weening" process. |

Gaaz while your opinion is valid, and certainly with all things considered that is true. To me it's not that he's trashing gaming. Good lord I think all of us are used to it at this point. No no what fries my biscuts is that this man in front of a camera for all the country to see, went and cherry picked this issue so that he could fight his agenda.
He in no way conceded to the fact that this 27 year old man was off his medication at the time of the shooting for an unknown illness. That this 27 year old man was discharged from the military after just 3 months. That he was able to buy these guns for the shooting LEGALLY.
Thompson took all these facts and hid them under the rug. Took the quotes his dorm mates said and used that to fuel the fire like all the other crap media in this country. Most of all though he started his before the bodies even had a chance to cool off.
So while what you say is true dear Gaaz don't you dare try to belittle what we think for the sake of your opinions. That makes you just like him. |

Girkon has a very good point.
And it doesn't help that he usually doesn't have all the facts about the games he's rising up against.
Remember his bit about Blitz the League?
He claimed that the "NFL wouldn't even put their name on it" when it actually had nothing to do with what the NFL wanted. It had to do with the fact that EA owns the license to the NFL and no one else was allowed to use it.
He's an idiot!
Oh... And Gaaz... I know you can't stand him either, the only reason you posted the way you did is b/c people are saying that Fox News sucks and you like them.  |
