This is incredible news. I LOVE Bone! I'm hoping for 2D animation, but I'm willing to let them convince me otherwise if they can find a good 3D animator. |

This makes me extremely happy. But what makes me ever happiers is that Jeff Smith rejected Nickelodeon for wanting to ruin what is, quite possibly, one of the greatest comics ever. Pop songs my ass!
And I agree with BK....I really do hope that they go a more traditional 2D animation route, rather than making it 3D. Somehow 2D just seems much more fitting for Bone. And I hope that they avoid live action. Yeah, it might be interesting, but again, I think it takes away from the overall feeling of Bone.
I hope that they get good voice talent to play the various parts. I already have ideas in my head for who I would want to hear as some of the characters. For example...
Phoney Bone - Danny DeVito
Gran'ma Ben - Betty White
The Great Red Dragon - Patrick Warburton (as Brock Samson)
Roque Ja - Antonio Banderas
Ted the bug - Doc Hammer (the guy who does the voice of Dr. Girlfriend on "The Venture Brothers") |

If they do it right, it'll be awesome. If they do it wrong, there will be Lucas-like blame laid upon the one who screws it up. And wouldn't Bone do better as two movies? |

Two or maybe ever three. I need to go reread it now to verify. But it definitely starts off more comic-y, and works its way into being fairly epic. If they wanted to do it right, it would probably have to be long, or broken up into multiple movies. Given that it would most likely be animated, I'd say that it would probably have to be broken up because parents would inevitably want to take their kids, and I'm sure that there isn't enough attention span there to last more than maybe 90 minutes. |

Actually, Bone gets pretty adult and dramatic after the first arc/half ends, so I'm not sure that Bone could be marketed as a kids' movie all the way through. Or it'll stop before the second half, and we'll all be really aggravated. So I'm thinking many movies would be best, and best done if it were marketed to the teenage/adult crowd, really. |
