graphic About (a cure for) AIDS graphic

How would you manage a cure for AIDS if you had it?
Sell it to a single person/coorporation for a gratuitous amount of money.

Actually, it is because of a specific protein that HIV mimics to evade detection and insert themselves into host cells. We are seeing evidence of people that have slightly altered versions of this protein that makes it harder for the HIV to propagate in the host body.

It isn't the miracle that people have hoped for. It is just that relatively obscure genetic traits that appear to be inconsequential are becoming more prominent.

Think of sickle cell anemia and its ability to resist malaria.

Ya think that what could be a neat alternative (and potentially useful prevention tool [sorry for everyone already infected >.<]) be a nanomachine that alters said protein to make it useless to HIV? Just like the ons with this obscure genetic trait? It may only be temporary, and not the best, seeing as what are we gonna do if HIV strains end up adapting to that? We still haven't cleansed it... hmmm... damn...

And their attempts at forcing people's bodies to mass produce killer T cells based on how those women fought off HIV have failed (that would have been nice for ''recently infected'' people...). Not to mention it would only be good for one shot, getting infected AGAIN would require another shot, assuming that shot worked in the first place... and it doesn't... there has to be a way. It's right there under our eyes. The solution is clear, and that's the problem... it's so clear, we think it's not there. IT'S SEE THROUGH, LOL. -_-;;;;;

They recently tracked the age of the AIDS/HIV virus back to the turn of the last century but it was not till larger city populations in Africa did it have enough carriers to really mutate and spread. Basicly it was a natural strain which got out of control.

If i had the cure, i would not share it. EVER. no real money in curing. better to depop areas with high concentrations with glorious cleansing fire. yes even the villages. (at least i am holding back on the nukes this time. after all this is just a hypothetical w/ no reality)

I really hope, for the sake of morality, that you're kidding. Because seriously, after I read this, the first thing that went through my head was, "WTF is wrong with you?"

Being that this is a hypothetical situation, I can say that I am a more Capitalistic Spork Fairy...we don't make much as far as salary.

I'd rather sell the cure for oodles of money, then turn it around and spread even more sporky goodness. You can cure someone living in the slums who has AIDS, but that doesn't get them out of the slums. That takes money at a minimum.

And sure, I'd set a humble amount away for my own little sporkegg, but nothing sporktacular...
