Hey, PO! My profesional organization just had a periodical discontinue, which means there's an opening in there. So I'm looking for a good mag to support my fledgling gaming program for teens. If not one that's good for drawing in the girl gamers, one that's excellent on the MMO front would be helpful. Suggest away, please! |

Well I don't really have any suggestions, but I know of a group of girls that would probably love to help you.
Over at VGEvo, one of the podcasts that's in the network is called Sisters in Gaming. It's hosted by (VGEvo Screen names) Nermassa, SaberG, Silrayne and Catwoman. They are the wives of Mark from PSNation, Trickman Terry, Eric Phillio who was a part of Broadcast Gamer when that was going on, and you may have heard him on our show for the AWA episode, and another active member of VGEvo named Wally
They may have some pretty good info for you.
Drop them a line over there...

I'm sure some of the lovely lady gamers on here (Sciler, Doot, Scrums, PRG, Shan) may have some insight for you too. |

I got nothin'. =\
I read Game Informer from time to time (because we get it for free), and it seems like so much of gaming now is dedicated to FPS. Which is fine if you are totally into FPS, but I'm not, really. I prefer platformers, action-adventure games, and RPGS, which don't get as much coverage because there aren't as many coming out. Or at least, it feels that way. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

They're not really aimed at a teenage or female gaming market, but it might be worth tracking down copies of the UK mags EDGE and GamesTM, both take a more mature approach to everything surrounding gaming rather than the "boobs and guns = win" attitude every other gaming magazine (both from the UK and US) that I've looked at and both seem fairly popular with all involved within gaming culture in the UK, although EDGE are frequently criticised for being a bit pretentious whilst GamesTM are criticised for wanting to be EDGE lite (i.e. not as heavy on using "big" words as some put it). |
