Tobias crashed into the ground, debris going in each and every direction. The claw dove into the rubble, yet instead of the sound of flesh piercing, the sound of steel meeting bone echoed. Tobias burst out of the rubble, Eden firmly clenched in his right hand. The evil nova spread from the sword, and with a swipe Tobias dissipated enough of the circle of flame to allow it passage around him.
Eden beckoned to him, the whispers in his head returning, mumbling with desire, calling for a chance to trade blows with the fel-beast's blade. He burst forward once more, Sword in hand, and came downwards for a grand swing, aimed directly at Diablo's head. |

So this is what I must do...
The battle had raged on for nearly an hour, both beast and wayward constantly trading blows, advantage gained and lost it almost as quickly as it had been found. The sword had begun to leave blisters in Tobias' hand and every swing burdened him more and more. His body had begun to feel the tremendous power taking it's toll, and soon he felt that the only thing that kept him fighting was the voice soothing his mind. Telling him that there was only one way out of this, and it was through the demon ahead of him.
Diablo's stature had changed. What was once a huge creature of unfathomable power, had slowly begun to reduce in size, becoming more compact, more agile, but less powerful. The giant beast still had absurdly strong attacks, yet it had become more and more used to it's body, almost mimicking Tobias' size and actions. Both beast and man fought with an unbelievable alacrity, their strikes always keen, always true, and always aimed for the kill. The parries and sword-strikes echoed in the chaos around them, trumpeting through the forest that laid on the outskirts of their ancestral battle-ring.
The blades clashed once more, their bodies leaned in tight, both warriors forcing against the other. The demon's breath pressed against Tobias' face, the smell of ember and brimstone making his stomach turn. It was a sight to behold – a real David and Goliath moment. In between both warriors, the blades vied for supremacy – the crystal blade resonating with hatred and pain while the earth-forged sword radiated life and balance.
And in one moment, it all seemed to end. The decision was made. Tobias heard the blade whisper one last thought – the crystal sword that Diablo used was the source. He recalled his cat-like friend becoming demonic in front of his very eyes with that blade’s power. He witnessed that sword changing anything that held it. Tobias was the only one that had yet to hold the thing.
He felt it’s presence through his own sword, which slid against it’s crystal-forged steel. He felt it run through his arms and legs, and in one moment, Tobias twisted Eden, breaking free, and with one giant downward swing, Eden met with Diablo’s sword.
The crystal sword cracked, the color leaking out of its blade. Tobias felt his foe drop to one knee, and he could see in the lizard-like face a look of surprise. Diablo did not give into this, and with a fierce display of strength, spun and began a powerful offensive. With every strike, his attacks grew in stature and power, yet pieces of the blade continued to hemorrhage.
It was with the last strike that Tobias felt a burst of energy – he saw the moment the presented the end of this battle – an opening in the attack that would mean that the conclusion of the fight would be here, and now. As the final strike fell, Tobias lowered Eden and drove it forward, his left hand up high. As the fragmented crystal blade fell into his gauntlet hand, Eden entered the beast’s heart, skewering it and unleashing a terribly green liquid all over the blade.
Tobias felt the weight of the crystal blade in his hand – he knew that Diablo had let go. He watched the demon fall to one leg, then onto both knees. He reached forward and pulled Eden from his chest and with a roar, he fell back, gasping for air. Tobias stood over him, exhausted and bloodied from the battle, his own blood rolling down his arms and onto the pale blade that he held in his hand.
Tobias felt it – the burning rage inside of him, his own personal demons and inner fears rolling to the forefront. He remembered the chaos and the destruction at his hands, and the fragmented blade began to call his name. It knew the power he held; it had witnessed him fell a demon of such magnitude that even the sword couldn’t always hold sway over him – yet this power from someone mortal? He heard its plea in his mind, asking him to live on with it. He felt hot – his body began to revitalize and he felt complete mastery over his body once more. He knew that the blade was making him whole again, giving him his energy back and making him feel as if he had never fought in the first place.
True Power.
And with one swift strike, he drove the cracked blade into the open wound that lay in Diablo’s chest. With a roar, the beast looked up at him, it’s eyes pleading for mercy. Tobias anchored his body and with a first twist, the blade broke in two, the hilt still in his hand, the top half of the blade still embedded in Diablo’s chest.
The green color that welled up in the blade before spewed out and painted the air a pale green. The smell was putrid, and Tobias’ breathing became heavy. He felt unholy forces circling around him, entering every pore of his body and flowing through his lungs. He could feel his blood hotter than before, and his eyes watered with intensity. He fell to his knees and in the next moment, passed out. |

Diablo glanced up at the wayward, his eyes pleading for mercy. All went blank shortly. Kain screamed out in pain or at least he tried to, he couldn't move, didn't have the strength to. All he could do was stare at the man killing him, and suffer. The pains and agonies from the battle, every single wound was felt. Kain collapsed, falling backwards. There was no reprieve from it, no rest... No stopping the suffering, except..
"Heh, the sky is blue... it's beautiful... My only regret is.... I didn't die sooner"
Kain closed his eyes, and entered darkness. The lake was filled with with the sounds of roars, every single demon in the realm of Kaden roared, in respects to the new lord.
Crypsis picked up the man, though female, she was demon still. She looked over him, and with a wicked grin she walked him over towards Akuko and rightly handed him over.
"Your friend is indeed powerful, especially since he took down the patriarch of our people. He would make a fine mate indeed. If he survives from the poison that is Diablo's corruption, tell him I will have my eye on him. It's truly a shame during all this fighting, you missed the coming of our new lord. When the sky changes blue, it marks the final seconds of our lord's arrival. The roars are in respects to the dying and new lord."
Crypsis smiled wickedly, looking both Akuko and Tobias over.
"Fine toys indeed"
The demon vanished, and the eerie feeling caused by the demon's realm was gone. They were back home, where they belonged or did they ever leave? Just slightly out in front of the two warriors shone a light, something glistening from the twilight that loomed over. It was a shattered sword. His sword, his being.. It was all that was left of THAT demon
Chaos will bring life, haha
The words rang in the minds of the two weary adventures and Diablo's laughter slowly faded away. |

(OOC: sorry guys, I've been out of it lately)
Akuko watched in awe from the trees as the bloody battle finally met it's end. She watched the demon fall and her savior fall to the ground.
She growled deep in her throat as Crypsis dropped Tobias at her feet.
Suddenly the scene changed as if the whole thing was a dream... Yet the scars, the blood and her evolution were witness to the reality.
Growling and shifting to weretiger form she lifted the catatonic body of Tobias and headed back to the Inn for some well deserved healing. |
