****Warning, expletives approaching!!****I FUCKING HATE THE SWINE FLU!! total bullshit, yes people have died in mexico, but due to poor healthcare. It is the flu everybody! The FLU! Wash your hands more, avoid superlarge crowds but you can still enjoy a great beach vacation in Mexico!! It 's all in Mexico CITY, not "ALL of MEXICO" Argh!!!!!!!!
I fucking hate the media! They take one thing and blow it out of proportion. I don't watch the news any longer, I can't stand it. I hear things and just want to fucking throw the remote through the tv screen.

They confirmed one death in the US, unfortunately it was a little kid. Interesting enough though, it was a Mexican kid visiting the US. |

It makes me sick how people today will believe just about anything they are told...
My mom is one of them and is one of those kind of people who will go into a sort of panic about this sort of thing. She actually wanted me to stop on my way home yesterday to see if I could find some face masks on my side of town! All because we've had 1 case break out in La Grange, GA! Just 1...and the woman just got back from Cancun, and came to GA for a business trip! I'm at more of a risk getting sick from visiting the pharmacy looking for the masks.
She's bugging me even more right now b/c *gasp my sinuses are acting up. Sorry mom, just because I have a stuffy nose and sinus pressure, doesn't mean I have the flu. It's pollen season and I've always been allergic!
I'm not happy with how WHO keeps egging this on and putting people on such high alert. Its another strain of the flu. If you get it, then you get over it the same as any other time when you get sick. I'm sorry but, 100 cases over 13 states? Look at the overall population of the US alone...much less Mexico. That's nothing.
I'm totally with Akuko on this...keep your hands clean and away from your face; avoid people who are sick; and if you have a cold, stay home for a change. |

Pretty much completely agreed, its a variant of the common, or Winter, Flu and thats all, alot is being made of it attacking "the young and healthy", but we don't know that, its not had chance to infect the elderly and have an effect.
As far as I'm aware only in poorly developed countries or countries with poor healthcare has it actually resulted in a loss of life. It's all a fuss over nothing and I find it strangely amusing that its happened whilst we're in an economic crisis. I'm not one for making up conspiracy theories, but drugs companies needing a bit of extra cash anyone?
Also, face masks will do nothing to prevent you catching it and will likely to lead to an extra respiratory problem too. |

Exactly...the only face mask that will really do you any good are either military or the fancy ones you can get for Home Depot. I can just imagine trying to get my grandmother to wear one. She has a hard enough time breathing without a mask over her nose and mouth. |

this version of avian swine flu is passed by droplets specifically from the pig (pig to human) and is a minor threat at this time with face masks being useless. Pig H1N1 is not as bad as human H1N1 which does exist and is not likely to get worse till the fall. resume living and have a ham sandwich. cooking kills the virus. hell lets have a PO BBQ to celebrate that this is a non threat. given the usual turn out to events, we don't have to worry about a large crowd.... 
oh btw, the most even handed, non panicked coverage of this outbreak is on Fox News. Y'all really should watch it.
