Ahh, so much and yet so little to say about my traffic adventures. I do have a slightly different, more extended trek to and from work now that they've made me move to the "other" office where my VP is. Let's just say I was happier at my old office.
I do get to drive on a pretty stretch of residential on Peachtree Dunwoody to get to work now. I've LOL'd at the motorcycle cop that's been assigned there lately trying to nab speeders. He's evil, and tries getting people going downhill!Luckily, he's aiming that radar gun in the opposite direction than where I'm headed. I've yet to make it to a ticketable speed on that road so, I'm not too concerned. The traffic is light, and the scenery is peaceful so I kinda cruise.
I haven't had much going on with traffic except for one instance of what I like to describe as a "ghost car". You know the ones...they kind of appear out of nowhere and cause trouble. I basically cut this guy off y accident because he wasn't there when I pulled out...no clue where he came from, but nothing happened...not even a honk.
I've seen a big increase in dogs hitching a ride with their owners lately. Its made my treks a little more fun turning to look at the car next to you at a stop light and having a giant dog hads sticking out their window at you! I love animals! One of my neighbors has a little Poodle mix, whatever dog that they like to fuss over. Her dad takes on daily rides around the neighborhood when he drives down to check the mail. And now that I think about it, my mom does the same thing with her/my Dachshund. lol
I know I'm rambling, but its been that sort of day. So for now, I bid you all Adieu! |

I swear! Today must be National Horn Day or something. Its like everywhere I went today, somebody had to prove that they had a horn and to use it...weird.
And none of the horns were directed at me, or came from me...this time |

Yesterday was an interesting trek, seeing some interesting things.
First on my list was probably the strangest. I think I say the human equivalent of the Muppet "Janice" from the Electric Mayhem...it was scary... that bright yellow hair, the face, even the outfit!
Then I pull into Lowes and see this guy that would make a fantastic double for Michael Stipe of REM...He even had on this funky pair of red sunglasses.
But the last was the best where it literally made me laugh after seeing it. This stupid kid, around middle school age, was out skateboarding with his friend...Only with no padding and going downhill in the middle of the street! I had the pleasure of both watching, and then hearing him go splat as I passed him. If he was hurt, he didn't show it, just popped right up and started walking... I know this isn't funny to some people but you really had to be there. |

Has Sirius Black come to Atlanta?
We were driving home last night from a late meal when we turned down the last street to our house and we see this all black, wolf-like dog just standing there in the middle of the other lane. It was really creepy because all you could see were its eyes and some big white teeth! Seeing it like I did really creeped me out because of how it was just standing there like it wasn't even real...a bad omen like from HP.
I made Al turn around and go back for a better look...at first, it seemed like it had just disappeared. Then we finally spotted it on the side of the road, with much more of a typical wandering dog look about him. He's still one I wouldn't want to meet up with in the middle of the night. He was a German Shepard mixed with something fluffy...enough to make him at least look like more than he prolly was, but i don't care to find out. |

I'm lucky to be alive today, thanks to some moron construction guy who wasn't paying attention.
It that time of year where all the trees are getting cut back from all the power lines, so traffic is slower and parts of the road are blocked off due to falling debris...assuming the guy directing traffic is paying attention
Be forewarned to beware of any person standing there with one of those Stop/Slow signs...and twirling it, instead of using it. I scooted on past the guy to just barely have a better portion of a tree fall on my car!!! If I had either not kept moving, or actually stopped, I'd be in some serious trouble. |

Shame on you impatient people!
It was one of those mornings of "Where's a cop when you need one?"
I would very much enjoy seeing people who are deliberatly breaking the law of traffics, get caught. You actually CAN get a ticket for cutting off a corner to get around a traffic light! I know two people who have gotten tickets for this, and one was my Grandfather...so don't do it, and wait your turn at the light like everyone else. |

I had crazy bizarre traffic incidents yesterday myself! It was like I was driving in the twilight zone! I was on Hammond heading toward 285 and we're at a light that had turned green but no one was moving because of the amount of traffic and the lady behind me started honking furiously and waving her hands. We finally get moving and we turn on to Glenridge and I put distance (and a car) between her and I. I'm waiting at the light and I hear her honking again - still looking crazy. No one can move. We wait a second more and all of a sudden a car comes driving down between me and the car next to me - how he managed this I am not sure - until he hit me. As he was driving by his side mirror hit my side mirror and caused his to collapse (as they are now built to do). I got his tag because he just took off but considered there wasn't any damage so I let it go.
Crazy lady follows us onto 285. She's whipping in and out of lanes behind us. I lose sight of her for a bit and then all of a sudden I see something fast approaching from the left side (I'm in the far right slow lane) and it's crazy lady! We make eye contact and she whips he car behind me and starts honking. She then whips her car in the shoulder of the highway and continues driving like it's an actual lane for about a mile. She then cuts off the person in front of me, honking all the while.
I tell ya, it was a day for the crazies yesterday. |

Yikes! she sounds a bit on the psycho side! Glad you made it home safe. Hammond tends to bring out the worst in people. I only use it in the mornings to cut over to Glenridge since my morning path has only gotten longer to get to my new office off of Roxboro. I miss Glenridge Drive though...just not with the rain. At least this office has an underground parking deck, where you stay dry. Glenridge doesn't make things easy when its raining Poodles and Persians. |

road rage can make anyone crazy. I had an incident which I remember vaguely. (almost 5 years ago) From what I remember some guy cut me off and I courteously went into the left lane to let him pass me on the right, (apparently trafficwas going faster in the slow lane, go figure). My passenger (retarded EX boyfriend) decided to flip the guy the bird as he passed. BIIIG MISTAKE! Now the guy tails me for about a mile and as I go into the right lane to let him pass me, he decides to try and ram my vehicle several times, getting dangerously close! I was so freaked out! finally I decided to slow down to 25 miles an hour and totally bitched out my boyfriend never to make gestures at other drivers...
I am so glad he and I are history...I could have died because of his(Ex's) knee jerk reaction. |

This vehicle does not make Right turns on red...but will turn Left
I laughed after I read the first part on a public bus this morning...then saw it run the red light and turn Left on Red. I wouldn't want to be on that bus when it gets hit one day.
Later on, there was a rather entertaining woman in front of me. She, and her passenger were both "hands-talkers" to where the driver could not drive and talk at the same time. It was fun to watch until she made me miss the light because she was too busy talking than paying attention to the light.
On a last note, I am saddened by the mess they have made out of Johnson Ferry with plowing down all those beautiful trees. It used to be one of my favorite parts of my drive to and from work with the nice canopy it formed. Now its all just a graveyard all for the sake of progress. |
