Hey guys... wanted to fill you in about a MMO Beat-em-up RPG hybrid...

It's called Dungeon Fighters Online and it's pretty damn fun!
It's in Beta right now but you can get free beta codes from Gamespot. You do have to have a gamespot account to get one.

Game is totally old school beat 'em up and sprite based. It's loads of fun!

We're playing it over at VGEvo... so I'm just going to quote the first post in there since Savory Cade over there did a pretty good job of describing it for everyone.

But wait! This one is different and obviously knows the way to my heart. It's a 2D beat'em up MMO! Think medieval Streets of Rage, Capcom's D&D arcade games or even Castle Crashers. The early Beta just started and you can currently get keys for it from 1up or Gamespot. We played for awhile last night and it's pretty fun. The actual beat'em up action isn't bad and seems like it could get better as you level up and gain more moves and abilities. Since it's a Korean MMO, it's rather grindy and beat'em ups tend to be repetitive by nature so hopefully the fun will last.

There are 5 character types to choose from and each has a ton of abilities that can be gained. Apparently there's some sort of class change at a certain level too. I like the art for it. Animation leaves a bit to be desired but gets the job done. Weapons will look different on your character, but that's it so far. You'll see a lot of clones running around with only 5 types. There is an avatar menu that has slots for things like face, hair, body, etc. so I bet there will eventually be more customization options, most likely bought with real money.

More info, beta key get, pics and all that jazz is here:

Strangely enough, DFO does not natively support gamepads or controllers despite being an arcade beat'em up.

I highly recommend downloading and using Joy2Key:
http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

It let's you map keyboard buttons to a controller. Best of all it's totally free.

If you're playing it, post and I'll update this one with your character and name.

VGEVO's Dungeon Fighters
(use Channel 38 if you can)

SavoryCade: Savorius [Priest]
Nermassa: Tiora [Fighter]
Shino: Shinomitsu [Slayer]
Silrayne: Maron [Mage]
BluSteele: ??? [Gunner]

It's definitely worth a shot guys... give it a try.

I've read about this in GI before and it seems pretty interesting. I'l have to look into it when I have some more time.

Definitely do that...
My character just hit level 10 this morning. Once you get to level 18, you can branch off into a specialization of your class.

I hope they get some of the avatar stuff in there soon... and at least some of it is free... b/c I'm tired of seeing all the same characters.

I can also see how the game would be very confusing if you ended up having 2 or more of the same class in the same party during battle.
