Well, this years Halloween wasn't that bad. i didn't get a cold, I didn't have to make a fancy costume either, I managed to get a few candies, and I dought I'll have any problems with my teeth after eating them all! But the BIGEST "Up" of this year's Halloween is ...
This year's UP:
*drumroll
I didn't get caught by the cops!! SWEET MOTHAJEBUS! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!
But this year's "down" is somewhat ... breaking the magic of the thing ...
This year's DOWN:
*criket sound
I worked my ass out during the entire evening at work -_- ... in fact, I'm still working at the moment. Stupid night shifts always falling on uber-cool festivities >_<
O well, only 5 hours 40 minutes left before the end of this neverending 16 hours long night shift.
I suggest everyone to post there ups and down to see how lucky or unliky you were at this year's Halloween.
[EDIT] OMG I mispelled HALLOWEEN!!!!! Huh!? and I can't edit the topic title, noo, nooo NOOOO!!!! WAAAAAAHAHAAAAAA *goes "something something" (a.k.a. "totally crazy")
:err: |

Front Row:

And finally...
Thomas - PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY DRESSED AS A LEPRECHAUN
No I didn't kick this leprechaun in the junk. Dont want to lose my job you know.
The bad...
Well I was playing PSO last night while all the trick or treaters were coming around. Under normal circumstances, you can just run in another room and your safe right.
Got a trick or treater in the middle of fighting the worm Boss ( Del somethingorrather ) at the end of the Caves. I was only level 11 and the other 3 that I had been playing with died already. I actually survived that (Thanx to my wavebird) but ended up dying b/c I ran out of Monomates and could take a monofluid quick enough to recharge my TP. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!
That was my holloween... w00t! Shino is now on level 15 and I have completed the Temple in E2. Started on the Starship and I think I was getting close to the end, and my Wavebird's batterys ran out. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN (again). After that I just stoped. I get the Starship over the weekend and hopefully be back here with good news about the new areas and enemies.
KIND OF A SPOILER AHEAD!
By the way, the boss at the end of the VR Temple, it's a look alike of the worm, but it's a fish and has different attacks. It sends little baby fish after you. |

Halloween up -
I was off of work today. Happened to be my day off since I work 4 10 hour days.
And that's sad that that was my up.
Halloween down - rant follows
Halloween is celebrated much like Christmas in my family. It's such a fun time of year that it has been tradition for my dad to scare the living daylights out of the kids. When we lived in California we had a slough of kids. Enough to accommodate easily 10 large bags of candy. I guess we got spoiled and it's regional or something but living in the South SUCKS for Halloween.
We have some serious bible thumping parents here who don't allow their children to celebrate such a holiday. Then we have the carpool trick or treaters who drive their children to the houses. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this an activity for the children to run around? I understand security paranoia for your children but get your lazy ass out of the car and WALK with your kid!
So ever since we have moved here (almost 10 years now) we have watched as the kids dwindle in amounts and watched how everyone is either too scared or too stuck up to celebrate Halloween.
We had a party this year, yes. But every year it seems like the spirit of the holiday is getting rubbed away. And the saddest thing for me to see is my dad start to lose his. Halloween has been such a huge deal for him and through him is where I got my enthusiasm.
Last year I helped him scare the kiddies and I'll tell ya, it's fun as anything stepping out from some bushes and hearing the parents scream. And it's even more fun listening to the few kids who remember the years prior and are trying to warn their friends about "the man under the stairs".
So yeah, we get a little theatrical with it, because to us it's much more than a commercial, let's sell candy type of thing.
This year, 3 children showed up on my dad's doorstep. 3 collectively. And that's just plain sad. And I found out where they all went.
To the mall. To go gather a bag full of candy from one table so that parents can shop while they are inconvenienced in letting their children participate in what has truly become to them a commercialized holiday.
Screw the mall. They bastardized my holiday. Screw the religious zealots who believe that if you dress up as something other than you actually are then you are doomed to go to hell. Screw the carpooling parents who won't get their lazy asses out of the car and actually bond with their children.
It's just as important to me if I lose the spirit of Halloween as it is to lose the spirit of Christmas. Because honestly I feel Christmas has it easier than Halloween. |

First: Rev, I'm glad that we could brighten your birthday just a little, and even thought we weren't really THERE I hope that the good wishes were enough. It must be pretty tough being that far away from home at a time when home is where you want to be the most. I can't even imagine cause I stay at a dorm at a school that's only thirty minutes from my house and assorted family members. I admire your strength, 'O Spiritual Advisor for the PO, and am glad that your birthday turned out well after all.
Second: I agree Doot. They are killing a simple, fun holiday with mass cosumerism, paranoia and miss placed zealotry. Every year there are less kids that do the traditional run. I remember back in the day when I would go out with two pillow cases and WOULD NOT return to my house until they were filled, much to the chargin of my parents. Now we have malls, and we have to worry about poisoned candy and it's ruining the spirit of the holiday. I do have this to say, however: The one thing that brings me hope was seeing the college students dress up and talk about how they are going trick-or-treating with a little brother, sister, or cousin. Sure, most of them were out at parties and came home drunk as all get out, but there are those that want to preserve the spirit of Halloween, and that is truly uplifting.
Third: I wanna see those pix Mother Gynah!
Fourth: My Halloween was good. I basically stayed up late and talked with two of my best buddies all night and I felt really good. Hope everyone else's turned out well, too!
