This is my second and I had both built. For this one I bought most of the parts and just had the mainboard, power supply, and skeleton installed. I did the rest and saved myself a ton. Paid $500 (and could have saved more had I had more confidence) to the store, spent $150 for extras, and ended up with a PC worth nearly $1700-$2000. If you just go slow and do a lot of price shopping, you can have a really good computer that is easily configurable instead of locked in with proprietory items (like most HPs, for instance) for not a lot of money. The flipside will be that if anything goes wrong you'll have to handle it yourself instead of getting free service but I don't think too much goes wrong with a computer in the first 1-2 years anyway.

See, Razer's got the right idea, really. For people with low budgets and everything like that PCs are the way to go because you can get someone who's good at building them to make you one for a few hundred bucks that's worth a few thousand and it's better than a store bought one anyway.

Only problemo with that is you need the money NOW! I myself can't save like that and if you buy yer processor first by the time you get to yer sound-card yer processor will be outdated or something. So it's best to go ta Dell and buy it all at once so that in like 1.5 months it'll ALL be outdated instead of half yer comp being ancient and the other half being on fire...hehehe
