Returned with some rantings - High school is the worst place ever...

And I mean that. I know that some of the older members of PO didn't have it quite so bad as we do now, and some of the younger still have it coming, but as of now, high school sucks. It sucks because of what this society has come to.

At any given time, any day, any place on school grounds, there will inevitably be cursing, smoking, drug abuse, a fight, or some perverse sexual act. Why? Society now a days has said that most of this is okay, some of it even the "cool thing to do". Thanks, 50 Cent, gangs are definately cool.

That's another thing up at Berkmar. There is rampant gang activity. Teachers don't even seem to care anymore. Symbols are constantly worn by the same people day in and day out, and no authority is bothered by it in any way. There are three "Bloods" on my bus that always wear red t-shirts and talk about how "they gonna bust some punk ass Crips this weekend."

I was currently reading Through Gates of Splendor, a book about missionaries that were murdered by tribes in South America. It had lots of things about the tribes. One tribe is wronged, and they seek revenge by killing the one who did them wrong, as well as family members. They have initiation rights, such as killing a lead member in a rival tribe. They even have their own variant of "drive by's". What does it tell you about our society, when we still have a technological equivilant of savage tribes? We have rised above all of God's creations, cultivated ourselves, and even almost conquered nature, yet we still act like this?

I've decided just to stay far away from people that I don't already know/associate myself with. This society is going down the drain, and fast. I'm supposed to be in an AP class for geography when instead I'm in a 'normal' class. There's constant swearing (even when speaking to the teacher), the students don't know anything about any subjects, and quite frankly, none of them seem to care. The entire first week has been spent studying lines of lattitude and longitude, talking about why maps are distorted, and understanding the five themes of geography, all of which were sixth grade curriculum.

I'm probably going to just end up dropping out of high school when I'm sixteen and self-educating myself. I think my brothers still have most of their college books. Stupid society...

Eh, I get called a slut, and a ho, and ugly all the time by said 'punk ass crips', mainly because I refuse to associate with them. I'm friendly, sure, but...Eh. Screw it.

Secondly, it's reverse racism. I get made fun of because I'm white. I'm not condoning racism in any way shape or form. And...gah, I'm just tired of being called 'white girl' as an insult.

And I'm tired of it!

The whole white being an insult happened two years back, when the Berkmar newsletter did a census of the ethnicity at BHS. 34% African American and 32% Caucasian when they did it. Apparently, that led to lots of graffiti in the halls saying "we own this school now", though it was probably "skool".

well it seems more like its just your school sucking than high school. and yeah, i dont like racism, but i dont like that whole black culture that is being promoted right now, its not cool, not funny, and in many cases just wrong.

its not that different from when i was in HS in 93-97. the kids seem a bit more disrespectful, but the cursing, name calling, gang fights, etc etc happened then

all we have here in CA is cursing and not even that much really, damn is about as bad as it gets. name calling pretty rare. no gang fight here. drugs (not taht anyone knows but we know some people who you gotta think man they gotta be on SOMETHING). racism non existence. no fights. school here in this part o CA is pretty cool. the teachers are cool and some actually give a damn about your futures. very nice people. even the nerds have it made here. freshmen are the only ones who really get picked on by themselves.

Hmmm, just think about it this way there whoever you are who started the thread (Too lazy to scroll).

When them bloods and crypts throw down then HALF are gonna die and 1/4 will go to jail. It's like win win for you. So just sit back and watch the ineptness of society destroy itself before your very eyes.

I am really scared about going to our towns HS. I have a whole year left before I'm a freshman but it still freaks me out to think I'll be there in the fall of '04. Is highschool really that bad?

HS isn't really that bad here in my area. I guess that it really depends on where you go. but Mika don't worry about it.....yet.
