Thinking about Anime/toon reviewing... - Whose in?

I knoe Rev already reviewed Trigun but I must say that having just finished off the last of my Trigun DVD's this series is in fact one of the many jewels in my anime collection.

This anime made me laugh, cry, and hate a certain song about a flippin pebble!

All in all it was beautiful, aside from the afore mentioned pebble. Only flaw was the age old anime bastardness of ending a series ONE EPISODE SHORT!

Ok, the thing that pissed me off is that Milly (~sniffle~ Poor Milly) and MEryl wait for Vash after his confrontation with Knives and we do see he makes it back....But then what?! Do him and Meryl get hitched and have some 1/2 plant 1/2 humans? Does Vash take Wolfwoods place and get some Milly action? And Knives is apparently still alive...Is he still a flippin psycho? Do they put him is solitary confinement? What of Wolfwoods cross? Did Vash leave it in the desert to rot thus stealing Milly's last remnance of her long lost love in order to get a better pole position?! We don't know! One more episode coulda explained all but nooooo, had ta end it with all this open endedness.

So eah, good series bad anime open ending bastardness. an easy 9 out of 10.

since no one did this review yet, i might as well bring it up, cause i love bad boy animes:

Cowboy Bebop

This was probably my first intro to bad boy anime's. The basic plot line is about 2 bounty hunters who strive to live off of the bounties that they recieve (which isnt a lot) The main char: Spike Speigle, is a basic bad boy, who practices fighting arts similar to bruce lee, and is a constant smoker. He also has one real eye, and an off colored eye, that looks slightly darker then the real one (or something of the sort). the second char that u meet is Jet, who is an ex-police guy who became a bounty hunter. He and spike bought the fishing barge: Bebop, to fly around in. Basically, the series is the cast running around trying to nail more and more bounties. As the shows continue, they dive further and further into Spike's past, and how its gonna catch up with him in the final episodes. Truely a great piece of anime, with a knock-out gorgeous helping woman, Faye Valentine. U all should see it, cause its really kick ASs

Trouble Chocolate

Welcome to Cranky Sakai Town. A place where you can raise a family. Most of it's kids go to Micro Grand Academy. There it is! Population 100,000 with hundres of classes and thousands of after school activities. Micro Grand students like sports and collecting cards with chocolates in them. Nothing too special, nothing too dull. Just your average town where this anime love-comedy takes place. I'm Nog, and I'll be your nararator.

Nararator, no. Reviewer, yes.

That tidbit there pretty much describes this series but i'll give it a go too. This series is about a boy named Cacao who lives in a candy store with this little alien thingy named Ham-Ham. While in his magic class Cacao gets drunk off of a 200 year old choclate bar and sneezes, disrupting his teacher, Prof. Gynash, from casting a spell, which accidentally creates Hinano, a tree spirit send into the body of a puppet.

Well it shouldn't take too much more to tell you that Hinano and Cacao are the main chars, but what makes this series are the many other characters and the whimsical humor each one of them brings to the series, like Big Bang, a female frankenstein who has a crush on Papaya, who is a vampire. Plus there are Captain Murakata and Deborah who have to show their love for each other as many times and as many crazy ways in each episode as possible.

The characters, the gags, and the story flow into one delicious series that should be viewed by all.

Princess Mononoke

This anime is one of my personal favorites-- but, then again, I haven't seen much anime, so my opinion may not matter. Anywho, it basically runs along the lines of the following:

The main character, Ashitaka kills off an demonic Boar God attacking his village, but contracts a deadly curse in the process, a marking on his hand that will slowly spread across his entire body, especially when he's feeling any particularly strong emotion(This is how I understood it, at least.). The arm sometimes makes Ashitaka kill people against his will, or hurt people more than he wants to. Case in point, the removal of both a man's arms with a single arrow, and the disembodiement of an entire head with another.

Anyway, other stuff's going on. Humans are wanting to take control of the forests, but the Animal Gods, particularly the wolves and a girl named San, oppose them. Lady Eboshi, leader of the Tatara Ba(the humans wanting to take over), is relentless and cruel in her assault-- strangely enough, she is also a tiny bit sympathetic. That's about all I can say without spoilers-- watch it for yourself. Seriously. It shouldn't be that hard to find, being the second-highest grossing film in Japan.

Excel Saga

(Sorry if this has been done. My eyes are scolling as much as the window is, as long as I have been online today. Also excuse my spelling on the names)

A secret organization has been started my Lord Il Palazzo. His senior agent is a very blonde, very ditzy, very exciteable, and very hungry Excel Excel. Later in the show a junior partner, Hyatt, joins. She is much more stable than Excel, other than the fact that she dies every few minutes. Enter the the great Macrocosm. She is a big round, spinning void with legs who sleeps with a somewhat more minor character (who looses his "Sexy, sexy wife and son" to his so-called friend) and brings people back to life. Since Excel kills off the mangaka for the manga series that Excel Saga is based on, the Macrocosm has to bring him back to life. In the very first episode, the first thing Excel does is get herself hit by a car, so she has to be brought back to life, and of course with Hyatt dying all the time, the Macrocosm is rather busy.

Each episode is based of some genre of movies, like a romance, a comedy, a horror film, etc. and is insanely funny.

Some of the other minor characters are as follows: The Puuchuu, which are supposed to be insanely cute, though I find them just somewhat cute. They turn into scary evil little faces when they are hurt or dying, and they are trying to take over the world with their cuteness.

Nabashin is a guy with a huge afro and a now dead girlfriend who dressed in an iron mask and got her bottom half bitten off by a huge snake.

There are three roommates whose names I cannot remember at the moment. One has a huge crush on Hyatt, and the other two are always following him around and ruining things for him. One of the others only talks in writing. He never SAYS anything, words just appear next to him.

Pedro's "sexy, sexy wife" has an affair while Pedro is away working to earn money for the family. She ends up with a new "papa" for their son.

The mayor is an idiot who cannot run things. Then there is a guy with a fake mustache that falls off, and he is trying to corrupt the entire government.

There are more, but I cannot tell you EVERYTHING!

Overall a very good anime, and hilarious to boot! It appears to have no plot, but the end episodes do tie it all together.

Name: Kanon

This is an import DVD, based of a hentai game from Japan, made into an anime, and then into a non-hentai game. Shows you how good it is. This anime is guranteed to make grown men cry. It's well done. But wacth out for episode 9 on some DVDs, the quality didn't come thourgh so good ><

The main character, Yuuchi, returns to what he calls, "The City of Snow". He has no memoires from seven years ago when he last came to this city. As he lives in this city once again he re-meets, Nayuki, Makoto, Mai and Ayu from his past, that he can't remeber. He also meets Sayuri, Shiori, Misaka. As you soon become aware, each girl has their own pain inside them. During the 13 episodes the girl's secret's and pain. The sadesst story in my opinon is Ayu's, who seven years ago...

Rating: out of 5!

Love Hina

Centers around Keitaro, who is trying to get into Tokyo University to try and keep a childhood promise to a girl he met at a playground.

Is a bit wacky at times, but can be very tender and romantic as well. If Naru could only be a bit softer sometimes instead of just Nuking Keitaro, I'd be happier with it. Almost all the charachters have quirks that make them endearing.

I give it a 4/5

Angel Sanctuary: God-hating, heaven-destorying fun! out of five, but don't wacth the dub, the voices suck.

Tenshi na Konimaki: Yet anthor anime dealing with gender change, but presented in an enitrely new way. I want a chibi Soga plushie! out of five.

Spiral ~Suri no Kizuna~:A great anime mystery show, with incredbly subtle thinking and a great plot. And full of bishishonen! And strange songs too. out of five.

Weis Kreuss- Knight Hunters

Not too bad a series the first 13 episodes are action packed and have a good story going for them with twists turns and dead girlfriends galore.

Basically the story revolves around 5 bishonen doods that are flower arrangers by day and assassins by night. They have nifty weapons from garout wire to katanas and use them quite mischieviously.

Most of the episodes revolve around how and why the 5 guys are assassins instead of normal dudes makin their way in the world.

After the 13th episode I would have been happy if the series ended but they made another 13 that weren't too bad but they lacked the impact of the initial 13 because the story turned mystical as opposed to the technology run world of before. Now we're lead to belive in magic and elements of the world and blah blah blah.

But over all I'd haveta give the series
out of 10.
