College Art Teachers SUX!!!!!!

I have come to think that art teachers NEVER want you to be creative and come up with designs YOU like!!!!!! It has to be their way, or no way!!!! I LOVE art, but with teachers telling my work sux, that just totally puts me down and discourages me....... Anybody else think teachers are out to get us and make us all slackers????? LOL....now I feel better.

Well I feel this way in english class sometimes. I think it hilarious that teachers can assign creative writing papers but then put restrictions on it right away. I'm sure its even more frustrating in art class since its all your own style and then being told to conform to someone else's ideas.

I hate authority... at least the revolution is coming...someday

I think some professors want students to follow their guidelines and see what they can come up with. My Intro to Fine Arts prof was the kind of teacher who gave us free rein on what we wanted to do, but I know other teachers who aren't like that.

Constructive criticism is one thing: "I really liked *fill in the blank*. As for this one, you can improve it by doing this." But constant, negative criticism is another thing entirely. It isn't going to help the person with art, writing or any other craft--nor will it add to the person's self-esteem. There are other ways to critique someone's work without attacking his sense of self-worth.

The lines are your enemy. Their restrictions are the devil. You will go by your own instincts. Your art teachers art failed artists that want to smash the first thing that inspirational! They are all art Nazis!

Busta booya! I dunno, the teachers over at m'college are really cool! Minus Ms. Coufal...she's crazy. Tore up a pal's of mine paintbrush because she thought it was cheap.

Crazy stuff...but the ones I've been with at my small-ass community college all encourage being creative. Sorry to hear that the ones you gots are the short ends of the stick...I say arsenic should do the trick! j/k
