Ok, first off, lemme say this: stereotypes don't come from 1 incident, but rather from NUMEROUS incidents. Whether it's fair or not doesn't matter, it's that person's call on what they believe. Which is what it all boils down to.

I believe that racism/sexism stems from a lack of understanding, perhaps on both parts. I've only ever talked to one racist person, and their reason, while I didn't think was valid, was understandable. Do I personllay condone it? No, but I understood. His brother was killed while driving through a gang war that was happening outside of his home, and all of the gang members were black. Does this validate him being racist. No, because those few cannot possibly hope to represent every black person on the planet. DO I understand his racism? Sure, I know that, if it happened to me, I wouldn't hate blacks in general, but that's because I'm strong enough to deal with it in the correct way. People who don't know how to deal with the anger of a lost loved one will almost always use the easiest outlet available, which for him, was black people. I didn't say it was the right outlet, were I in his shoes, I would bare hard feelings against gangs, not blacks. Anyway, the same things apply to everyone. The secret is not allowing the rage to fly out in various directions, that one kid that was racist could have sparked up a black guy with a short temper and quick to judge people, and now he's racist against whites. Violence begets violence and hate begets hate. The secret is to be strong enough to move on. Smile

Truer words cannot be spoken Terin. Everyone is different with they're anger. When my best friend was raped and was turned away by the police because they believed she "was asking for it because of what she was wearing". I admit I hard harsh feelings towards those who dressed in "punk" outfits and towards the cops. But after time to cool down I only blamed those who cannot control themselves and the cops who where simply to lazy to help those in need. But Karma was feeling viscious that week and I soon learned that one of her attackers was run over while the other ODed on X. Meanwhile the cop who turned her away was fired without pay due to drug abuse. Justice my friends. Its out there. I have faith in it once more! Hoozah!

Yes you're right.

We must be open-mind and ask ourself if anyone else could that thing that make us angry about.

I knew some white people that was in street gang forces and do several bad thing. I know some black who are courteous and have warm hearth.

There's reason why someone is racist but there is also a reason which is there unconsciously in all the case. I maybe look hard saying that but It's an fact. They're born to admit that is not the fact that the people are black or anything else that made them be bad. They want a culprit and an excuse.
