Well, if you think about it, they are defending Islam, trying to take back Jerusalem. Or whatever that stank-ass war's about. Therefore, it is Jihaad.

Oh no terin, a topic about religion...now you've done it... Rolling Eyes

The way I see it, most of the people in this thread seem to hate the church because of actions that were caused by men. I mean even though the church represents a higher power, its still run by normal men. They are subject to the flaws that occur in every human. But why are judging an entire institution or belief system on the wrongs comitted by supposed followers? I for one think the crusades and spanish inquistion were terrible injustices, but I don't believe that everyone should judge the catholic church based on the actions of men who died centuries ago. Since those times, the church has been reformed many times and a lot of problems have been solved. Is it perfect? Nope. Stuff like priests molesting children showed us that much. But for every bad preist out there, there are probably 10 priests who would never do such a thing and who truely believe in what they preach. But you never hear about them only the bad things.

Just for the hell of it, lets just take a quick overview of humanity. For thousands of years we have fought each other over incredibly petty reasons that for the most part boil down to greed. Humans have killed millions upon millions of other humans. We are blinded by prejudices that there are no reasons for. Every human being is 99.8% the same genetically yet we hate people who simply have a different skin color than us or a different religion for that matter. We lie, cheat, steal, murder, rape, and destroy.

Is it just me or do things tend to be on a bias when you only remember a certain side of it?

Anyway what I'm saying don't judge it based on what people have done wrong but instead try to see it as what the church is struggling to do right. They are trying to get people to live good lives and give them some hope that one day there will be justice in some way or another.

yeah mike that is why I hate the church, its corrupt.
the teachings of Jesus were marvelous, any one should follow them to lead a good and selfless life. its funny how the church can just disregard the teachings of its founder and in their eyes the son of god, pretty much whenever they feel like it.

some people say we are all born good, I sometimes find that hard to believe. it seems encoded in our DNA that we need to fuck up every single thing we get our hands on.
humanity Wack every thing in existance

As a Christian, and being named Christian, I'm hurt =/.

Well, not really. But still. If you need to talk about this stuff from someone of your own age's perspective, feel free to IM, PM, or post in my thread.

I don't really like discusses on religion because at the end, it lead nowhere but to be wound or hurt other. People who believe firmly in their religion never change their mind even if you give them an ultimate proof because they only rely on faith. Faith is good, but can blind. Someone who rely only on proof is not better. Think about how a magician have first misled people ? They misled the people that believe what they see, rely on proof. Too much of something is never good, not enough either. Personally I prefer a good balance but I respect both of these person.

At the end, someone's getting hurt or both are. What is sad on this prone is that most of the time both of them are good hearth people. They both truly desire the best for the other but are too much confident that their way is the best. It is a vicious circle.

I need to tell it because It's again what I'm seeing here...good people wanting the best for others good ones but it's the vicious circle again.
Maybe I'm too sentimental but I would be sad, maybe more discourage, if something like faith separated some of you. Don't let it happen.
