I think my PS2 is about worn out. After over 3 1/2 years of use...
There were two times before this morning where Champs of Norrath froze up on me during a loading screen.
Well today, Champs froze up mid game. But it's only a problem with Champs of Norrath so far. No other game has given me any problems. I have noticed that for a while now, it has taken a little longer at first power on to load the inserted game. Sometime it makes it all the way to the PS2 menu screen (where it says browser and if you select it you can look at your mem card and disk that's in it.
Well, looks like it's time to go get another PS2.
what am I going to do if it totally dies before I get a new one... Play my XBox? Oh the horror . Oh wait... Metroid Zero is still waiting on me to play it. Saved!
Has anyone else seen these problems with Champions of Norrath. Besides the freezing, it skips the music a lot, has a long pause before speech starts, loses frame rate often. I mean could this be the disk? |

Check the disc for scratches and abraisions. If the disc is marked, that will make things tougher to load and read. If the disc is clean, it could be the PS2, then. You'll probably want to play hard on several of your other games to see if you can dulpicate the effect. |

yeah, mine was a 1st gen too, I gave it to my mom cuz she kept bugging me for it. The motor for the disc tray was starting to make noise, and it wouldn't play DVD's anymore. So I got a new one.

Question. What are the symptoms of sudden PS2 death??
most of our games are good but GTA Vice City freezes or just doesn't load, and .hack//mutation still won't load??
sound like death? |

Ah welcome to my world friend
actually the problem is that CoN is a dual layered disc. Seem the firstgen PS2s have problems with these new-fangled DL DVDs. I've had countless problems with CoN and cam offer some suggestions.
1. Save Often!!!!
2. If you get stuck at the NOW LOADING screen simply eject the game, wait 5-10 secs and re-insert disc. Usually does the trick.
3. If you get the BLACK SCREEN OF DOOM, gate back to town and walk back to said dungeon, take a while but at least you wont lose your data.
4. SAVE OFTEN!!!!!
Any other problems let me know or check the gamfaqs message board for Norrath.

I hadta send my PS2 in to be fixed once...It was the saddest like 2 weeks of my life...I cried I tell ya! I missed her so much..The way she'd always expose her tray to me..The way thing connected to her so smoothly. How her memory untis were always so receptive...*sniffle* |

I told you via IM but I thought I'd post as well.
50 is the kinda max, you can gain XP after 50, just at a friggin snails pace. It would take you a week of casual gaming to maybe get one level. |
