Even though Doot and Prg have good points and I agree with a lot of what they have to say, I still think they were a little hard on you and it is for something that is totally insignificant in my opinion.

In my opinion, you aren't hurting anyone, you aren't disturbing anyone. My school did the finger tip rule too, and I think that is acceptable. Down to your knees in my opinion is a little much.

This rule is just a futile attempt to get girls your age to keep their "skirts down" and not get into anything sexual. And to try to make it so boys don't look at you as much. When in reality, the boys will look no matter what you wear and as far as keeping away from anything sexual at your age, all you have to do is talk to someone like me, and I can give you 100 reasons not to get started down that path.

Actually the main problem I have is that she should listen to what you have to say. Even if she does have to deal with that many kids. If she doesn't have the patience to do it, then she needs to look for another job.

And the fact that she talked down to your mother... that's a big no no. I tell you what, if I disagree with a reason that my daughter (when I have one that is) gets in trouble and the administrator starts talking down to me, she will hear every word in the book and she'll be lucky if I don't actually drive down there to say it to her face!

For the record... Skibirdi is a preK teacher, and she deals with a very tough age, and she listens to all her kids, and always respects the parents. Even when the kids hit constantly (which happens often). She has the patience to do this job.

With all that said... if you did know the rules, pushing them as far as 3 to 3.5 inches may have been "a little" much. Just be a little more careful.

As of this moment I have to agree a bit with Suna and a bit with Doot.....Though I am in school to be a teacher for 9-12 years old and I know when I hit that point I am sure that I will be for the longer skirt policy, the last thing I'll need in class is for all my boys to be distracted. I deal with it a bit now with coaching and such. I coach the hormonal age of 9-14 years old in volleyball and soccer. Soccer is no biggie cuz they all wear the same thing, but man you should see some of the skirts and such these gals come out with in volleyball. One day I had this girl, 11 years olf with hip huggers and bare midress shirt. She alos had on of those but hugging chains that said love and was all sparkly, and of course the word was placed right over her backside. I told her to change and thought i'd get in trouble but amazingly had full support of the school

Remember what I said Suna? Be happy, make yourself happy and never fear consequence. Well unless it's something like murdering or bad evil things like that Smile

Love you All

Having gone through the educational system myself, I can agree with both sides of the argument, as paradoxical as that sounds.

If it was a very short skirt, generally it's considered a distraction to other students around ((sarcasm)especially since we all know that teenage boys have nothing else on their collective mind but teenage girls... (/sarcasm)) as well as potentially to the teachers. In that respect, they are justified in requesting that you change into something longer, because the job of the teachers is to ensure that everone has the potential to learn. And since it is in your code of conduct, you are responsible for making sure that you obey it. (If you want it changed, draft a proposal and get support... lots of it.)

However, to temper this, if the administrator has behaved in the manner you describe, that is unacceptable. At the very least, the administrator can explain the reasoning behind the rules. I know that will naturally provoke a reaction to debate, but if you can hold your tongue long enough for the explanation to finish, you may find that they do have a valid point. The administration, harried as they are (and they are, believe me...) should be willing, at least, to explain it to you. Truth is, they probably have many more things to do that day, and you might be throwing their timetables off. Thus, they may be a bit short with you. (no pun intended)

Regarding the actual regulation, if it's as Shino says, to prevent people from getting sexual, then it's laughable. For many of the same reasons that he gives. I agree with him that the problem is more in the administration's unwillingness to explain things to you or to listen to your side of things.
