I guess they just thought that they had to throw that last bit in. *sigh* It's not anti-Semitic...

Although, I also haven't heard of any of the actors who portrayed Christ dying shortly after production. I'll look into that some later. But the Bible does say that God has numbered our days, and that His hand is in all things. If He did not want the movies to come out, then He easily could have killed those actors before the release, rather than afterward.

Ya mean cause he's never killed anyone before in that 2000 page snooze pill?

What with the flooding, taking of first borns, and fire and brimstoney goodness?

I think God HAS already played his hand and tried to kill off man MANY times but unfortunately for him we've advanced to a point that nothing short of cliche-ing the Armageddon movie can stop us...MWAHAHAHA! We rool joo!

There's tons upon tons of references, as Az listed a few. Many people forget that although God is loving and graceful and so forth, He is also a god of wrath.

The thing about this movie is that had it not been Jesus I would have cried anyways. Just the way they were torturing him would have been enough to make me cry. I for one felt this movie was needed to bring faith back into the hearts of people. It's not commercialization at all he used his own fortune to promote this movie. That movie is a fantastic representation of what he went through. Whether he is the lord or not is debatable(even though I consider myself to be a christian). I for one think the movie was incredibly moving and I wish to see it over and over again, because it was that good.

I shall say my peace and get out as quickly as I can.

Shandriz mentioned earlier that it was folly to shed tears over something that is not real, and to me that seems, somehow, not quite right. Perhaps you may think that I am a weak person, but I have shed tears not only in movies, but from music as well. You see, I do not shed tears because I am sad for the person on the screen, I shed tears because I can feel the emotional investment that that person placed in such a work, an investment that invariably brings such work to life. That is a beautiful thing, something that is rare and wonderful and should be appreciated. It is something that I strive to do in all my endevors, for in that path lies what I consider spirituality. If you can believe in something that fully and give so much toward it's growth and being then, indeed, you know the meaning of faith.
Also, I think that it is something to consider that this movie was made for Mel Gibson. I think that, as an expression of his faith (he is a very devote Catholic of a specific sect) he needed to do this. If others can see his emotional and spiritual investment in this movie and feel moved because of it, I can see no reason to laugh at them and call it folly. There is no greater grace than that of the Human Spirit moved to pure expression.

If you accept the words of historical accounts, you must accept the crucifiction. At the very least such a man as Jesus did exist and did so ignobily die for his belief. If I am a fool to weep at such debasement of humanity, then I am a fool.

I'm with you, KenseiKurisuchan.

This month's issue of Reader's Digest includes an interview with Mel Gibson and the reasons he made the film. Just wanted to mention this, in case anyone is interested in reading it.

I agree.

I haven't seen this movie, partly because I'm broke and partly because the film is very graphic. Even though it's been a *long* time since I've gone to church), I still believe that God exists.

A person's stance on a movie, or religion or some other topic, is up to him. We may or may not agree, but everyone has a right to his own opinion and to express it.
