Excel, first let me say that you are a good man and my respect for you has only ever grown the more I've seen from you. I'm glad you came to PO, man.
I think you may have miss-interpreted my statement, Excel. My point was that, whether they return your love or not, I find it hard to believe that you could truly love someone without knowing them very well as a person. That could be as friends or through dating or professional work or group activities, etc. I also believe that you can love someone unconditionally without them loving you back, but I don't think that it can be called love if you don't know them to such an extent that you yourself already know their feelings toward you.
Now, as far as your question is concerned, I think it's a good one. However, I also think you're oversimplifying the answer. First, if I truly loved this person to the extent that I wished to be with them forever and they did not love me back, I would talk to them about WHY they didn't love me in that same way. The answer, of course, would affect my plan of action after that. If it's because they don't feel they know me well enough then I keep trying, showing them more of who I am so that they can see my affection is genuine. If it's because they just never really thought I me that way then I would pursue them still, this time making my intents known. If it's because they don't like me or find no potential for that emotion in me then I resign myself to the fact that chances are slim that they will ever really fall in love with me. However, since I care about them deeply I will always make sure to be there for them, to be their friend, even if I can't be their lover.
The second question is easy to answer.

Seeing the good in all shows, in my opinion, a greater maturity that is normally seen today. It's easy to wallow in despair, calling everything bad, blaming the world and people for all of it's problems. It's a lot harder to know that most everyone and everything is good or has goodness within them, that the problems of life and the world come from a series of mistakes that were never meant to happen and to approach those mistakes with pride and courage so that one day the world might truly reflect the goodness that it pocesses. That makes you more of a man in my book. Some people may call it simplistic, but that means they've never tried it. I admire you for that same spirit that I am always trying to maintain.

ok i HAD to! Haddaway has that neato song..and when i first saw that i immeadiately thought of the song! heehee!

but...hmm....what IS love, eh? That's definately an interesting and difficult question. Since I'm young, I've been told many things. Some have told me that since i'm young, i'll never really know what love is until i'm older. Others have said that you can experience love at any age.

-shrugs- I think it's all different kinds of loves. There's a lotta different kinds (i mean, even a lot of different kinds of romantic love) I don't think we all feel the same exact feeling when we think about love. Maybe we do, who am i to say? ^^

I gotta agree wif my bro excel and sperrit though...i do believe that there is always goodness in the world...and that everything will work out for everyone..for the best..in the end. ^_^

Love is many of different things, and not just one good reason. Love comes in many shapes and forms and many different reasons too.

Interpreting love...something that ive found myself trying to do, what with me seeking it endlessly. What ive found out of my search, is that everyone has their own interpretations. But as far as Nacht's interpretations, i think she basically has the sturdy foundations of love down-pat.
