Ok, this topic is actually being started due to the [sarcasm] wonderful [/sarcasm] databases professor I have this semester. I swear, the man is an utter jerk who cannot teach whatsoever. First day of class he informed us that he was not interested in even learning our names and not to email him if we were going to be absent as he did not want to have to read through them. While I'm mentioning it, he also stated that email is not private, and any email sent to him, especially ones that criticized his teaching, would be spread around to every other professor in the CSIS department.

Since then, he's done very little besides tell the worst jokes ever, confuse the crap out of everyone, and pass out failing grades on his tests. For the most part, everyone fails his tests, for the simple reason that if he mentions a topic in class, there's an extremely strong chance that it will NOT be on the test. Very little of what he says even pertains to the material, and when he does say something on topic, he does not elaborate on it, and simply skips over it leaving everyone in a state of confusion. Finally, he mentions an assignment that will be due at the next class, but will not actually have the assignment posted on his website until the next day....leaving in most cases only one or two days to finish it.

Oh...but it gets better. In this class we have a group project where we are required to create a fully functional relational database using MS SQL Server or Oracle 8. All groups had to have their projects, PowerPoint Presentation, SQL Scripts, etc., posted to his website by 5:30 the Sunday before last. So all the groups apparently do that, and we all come in last Tuesday to present. Each group draws a number to see when we will be presenting, and the first group gets up to present (not my group). He tells them where their files are stored on his laptop. However, upon proceeding to open their files, they discover that the PowerPoint is not on the laptop. The laptop also has no floppy disk drive so they could not use their backup copy. According to the group, they uploaded the PowerPoint, but the professor says that he downloaded everything from the site, so they must not have. Finally, they offer to just present without the PowerPoint. However, rather than allowing them to do this, he merely tells them to sit down...apparently gives them a zero for the presentation portion of the grade and allows the second and third groups to go.

However, perhaps there is some small amount of justice. When we came to class on Thursday we found out that the professor had cancelled all classes on Wednesday and Thursday, apparently due to illness. Thus, all presentations are simply going to be graded based on what was uploaded to his site. However, we also found out that the group he did that to is filing complaints with the head of the CSIS department...some of us think he was out of class due to these complaints rather than an illness.

At any rate, the only bad part to him not being here was that we get no sort of review for the final. Of course, a review from this man doesn't really help anyway. Apparently though, everyone fails all his tests but he curvers everyone's grade up to an A or B, so no one should fail.

I honestly cannot understand how this man still has a job. He repeatedly receives horrible student reviews every semester, yet he's been with the school for years. Heck, a girl I know said she talked to other professors who stated that he was a disgrace to the entire CSIS department. The only thing I can guess is they keep him around because he's older than dirt and has a doctorate. I've only had 2 professors that I ever believed should lose their job, and this man is one of them.

Anyway, I'll post in this thread anything I find out after his final on Thursday. Hope you enjoyed listening to my rant...post your own, maybe someone can top this. I'd love to hear it.

How about a teacher that makes you miss your final? Had one like that. Thankfully I was able to get it all taken care of but... I was ready to kill that guy.

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GOING TO GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY... READ THIS!

My first quarter of college, I decided to jump right into Calculus. I had this teacher named Mrs Eisenboc (spelling may be off... some German lady).

This is the type of teacher that wrote with one hand and erased with the other as she went through the teaching process.

Then when she didn't know the answer to something, she would just reply with "You should know that already."

I did well in her class for the most part. I went into the final with an 88 thinking I was going to do well on the final and get an A (I got a 110 on the first test by the way). I studied my ass off for the final and when it finally came, I swore I was in another class. I ended up getting a C in the class. I lost more then 8 points on my average b/c of the final.

If I would have know any better I would have disputed it, but I was a 1st quarter freshman... what did I know.

So if you are going to GSU... not Southern... the real GSU... remember that name and avoid it like the plague.

Dang dude. That's not cool. I hate those kinds of classes! My biology teacher was JUST like that! SO not cool!

o yea?i have this one teacher ...a.k.a Mr. Johnson called a girl a hoe and she cussed him out so its like really crazy...

There was one girl in one of my highschool classes that made a teacher cry in class. It was pretty messed up. He actually quit teaching after that.

Man... this semester is messed up. My choir teacher this semester is SO stupid! I KNOW that I could direct a choir better than that jack-ass! GRRR! It's so frustrating!
