Ok, as you probably know, I'm a college student. I also happen to go to school pretty close to home (I go to school in NYC and live in lower CT). As a result, I pretty much go home every weekend, for whatever reason. As I mentioned in my "Bad Roommate" thread I have a jerk of a roommate, so its nice to get away from him on the weekend.

I also just like to get the hell out of this place because it's starting to get to me, and overall, I'm more comfortable being home and I love to be around my family, because they're just the best.

Often times, I feel like I shouldn't be going home, mostly because no one else really does, and I sorta feel like a loser constantly going home. I feel like because I'm in college, that means I'm supposed to stay away from home as much as possible, but I'm not like that. My parents were always really cool, so its not like I want to stay away to rebel against them. I don't need to do that, nor do I want to.

Is there something wrong with me?

~Ming

NOthing wrong with you evil man? You love your family there for you like to see them.. they are your place away from the school stress. Sometimes you just have to go back home even if it is every weekend. I say keep going home on the weekends if thats what makes you happy.. but if something else comes up that you wanna do.. then go for it! Good luck

nothing at all wrong with that? If anything I may suggest you not worry what others think. This next statement isn't directed at you. Too many people get so self conscious because of others that they end up missing out on sometimes amazing oppurtunities. Now I understand it's probably not going to change your life missing a weekend at home, but I say you need the time away sometimes. If nothing else you can run to a place where it doesn't remind you of school

Peer pressure sucks. Ignore the bastards. They will have no impact on your life whatsoever. You like to go home and visit. Keep doing it.

Yes.

Oh...You want a reason.... See when your parents were kids they were cool and were democrats..When they got married and had a family they found they liked when prisoners died and taxes were broken. They then became republican. In college the majority of students are liberal because they're all idiots and have never experienced life. You going home keeps you in constant contact with the enemy of colleges. So you are frowned upon on your turf at school..Hence you feel bad..But it's ok because when they're climbing the corporate ladder by dropping names and back stabbing you'll be making money through stocks and investments.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the words of encouragement. It's not that I necessarily care what other, specific people think, its that there seems to be a "college mentality" that is to stay away from home as much as possible. I don't particularly agree and/or like that.

And Az...thanx...I think...

Well to be honest it is a little bit odd, there isn’t anything wrong mind you but it is odd.

You’re in college you should be parting and having a blast, after all it’s what college is for Wink
