311 Greatest Hits '93-'03

well I just picked up this CD the other day.

I'm pretty satisfied.

Here is the track list with a few comments for each...

1) Down (from 311)
I love this song!

2) Flowing (from Soundsystem)
Pretty good song, there are better ones on this CD, but not many (Sever)

3) All Mixed Up (from 311)
You know this had to be on there.

4) Amber (from From Chaos)

5) Come Original (from Soundsystem)
See track 3

6) Beautiful Disaster (from Transistor)
I'm glad they put this song on there. The never released it for play on the radio (at least not around here), but it's an awesome song and now part of their regular concert set.

7) Creatures (For A While) (from Evolver)

Do You Right (from Music)
The only "Music" track to hit the radio and the only one to hit the Greatest Hits. WHY!? There are so many good songs on this cd that are better then others on this "Hits" CD.

9) I'll Be Here Awhile (from From Chaos)
This had to be on there. Everyone loves this song, even people that don't like 311.

10) You Wouldnít Believe (from From Chaos)
First released track from "From Chaos" I had no doubt it would be on there.

11) Transistor (from Transistor)
Yeah, I figured this would be on there, would have rather had (Use of Time) or one of the others. Prisoner maybe, but this is fine.

12) Don't Stay Home (from 311)
The first Song that really gave attention to 311 from radio listeners. And still a great song.

13) Homebrew (from Grassroots)
Most people didn't hear this on the radio, but it was there. Again, the only track to make it from Grassroots. Grassroots is the best CD they put out. WHY NOT PUT MORE!!!

14) Beyond the Gray Sky (from Evolver)
Yeah I could have done without this one. Especially since there are a lot of better songs on Evolver!

15) Love Song (new)
Man I'm glad they put this on there. I love this version of the Cure hit.

16) How Do You Feel? (new)
You know, I kinda like this song. It's got an Old School 311 feel with a lot of the New sound they have added to it.

17) First Straw (new)
Now playing on the radio. I have to say, I love it. When I hear it, I can see Nick and SA on stage singing it.


Overall I'm pretty happy. They should have put a few more tracks on from Music and Grassroots, but I think they did OK. I'm a little upset that there isn't anything from the ETSD Video EPs.

Overall, if you like 311, you may want to pick this up. If you have never listened to them, this CD doesn't really give you an idea of what 311's music is all about. They have so many different sounds that go across the spectrum. From HipHopish to Regae (sp?). But it's still good. All of the songs on the CD are winners!
